But a Gallup poll released Wednesday found that more Americans think banning assault and semi-automatic guns wouldnt be as effective at preventing school shootings compared with alternatives such as increasing the governments mental health spending and adding police presence at schools.
Pew notes that public opinion for gun control legislation remains significantly lower than before Obama took office.

Manufactured consent.
All of a sudden, everybody agrees with Obama.
Convenient isn’t it?
No way. None.
The 2nd amendment still trumps all of it!
I knew where this was going yesterday when Obama repeatedly said that the majority of Americans agree with him and called for them to get out there and put pressure on those unreasonable republicans for gun control and raising taxes.
Where did they take the poll, NYC?
Wait another month when the public is no longer grieving over the loss and any pro gun control sentiment will have evaporated.

LOL. The Constitution is supposed to prevent the tyranny of the majority. If the majority wants to change the Constitution, there is an amendment process. Polls are meaningless in terms of the Constitution.
Commenter Tea.Party.Jesus is scary.
Our country has gone crazy.
20 innocent kids make them forget 3000 innocent Americans on 911 and have them scrambling to become defenseless.
Shoot all those favor gun control and the problem is solved. Ridding the world of idiots (i.e. liberals) and we’d all be better off.
I don’t remember seeing anything about “opinion polls” in Article V.
Ah, but do 2/3 of the House and Senate, and 3/4 of the State Legislatures, beat the 2nd Amendment?
Doubt it.
funny thing the article states
“But a Gallup poll released Wednesday found that more Americans think banning assault and semi-automatic guns wouldnt be as effective at preventing school shootings compared with alternatives such as increasing the governments mental health spending and adding police presence at schools.
and even at the is sad time its lead line is only “true” by 1 %

Our founders warned us about assholes like these.
Even the LIBs would better off because they wouldn’t have to live with their constant self-loathing. A win/win!!!
The writing is convoluted (no doubt on purpose-it is Politico), but if I am deciphering it correctly, the result is that people think more attention to mental health and a police presence at schools would be MORE EFFECTIVE than banning assault and semi-automatic weapons. That is a good thing - most people get it.
Also, according to Pew, less people support more gun control NOW than BEFORE Obama took office. That is also a good thing.
