I'm going to say this for a possibility: It is five days until Dec. 21. I'm reading reports from all over the world of people having strange behavior as they think the end of the world is coming on that date.
Even in China, people are throwing their belongings away, saying they won't need them, giving their money away or buying goods with that money that they have always wanted, thinking it doesn't matter now to spend all their money buying something they wanted.
People are going up certain mountains in the world, one in France, of course Mexico near Cancun where a Mayan pyramid is, and other mountains thought to be “holy”.
Are we going to see more strange behavior from now until after Dec. 21? Could these people who are acting out with guns, think it doesn't matter now, they can do what they want?

You may be onto something there. If someone really, way down at the core of being, really believes the world’s gonna go kerplooey in five more days, than they may be thinking, “Meh....what the hell. Let’s do it!”
People in China are going a little crazy, here where I am in Europe, we got folks going to some hapless little village in France thinking a nearby mountain harbors some UFO mothership, and assorted other craziness. Here in the Czech Republic, it’s actually not that crazy, and ironically it’s because so many people here are atheists; they simply find the 2012 thing to be some weird, crackpot religious flakiness. They just don’t get worked up over it, and if anything, they find the whole notion amusing.
