Ms Conte called the ordeal 'sad' for Lanza and his family, and suggested that the violence is a portion of a much larger situation.
'Guns are easy to point to, but it's really a mental health issue.'

This is an interesting challenge for history buffs. Are random acts of crazy mass murders of children a modern phenomenon...or have they always happened? I don't know my history well enough to answer that.
“In Viet Nam, the percentage of actualyoung American troops WW1, WW2 and Korea. This fact is beyond dispute.”
I think you left something out of this- it makes no sense as written....
Agreed. Maybe the gun owner would share the code with the non-nut family, but no stranger could use it against them. However, this dead mother certainly should have found a different pastime to share with this insane son. The evil get around all security measures and adopt alternative methods, I realize.
Mental illness definitely. Gamers are very hard to define. There are lots of great, well-meaning gamers.
I merely was poorly stating my anger at violent games.
When it’s dark, we flip the light switch and the problem is solved. When we’re hungry, we go microwave a hot pocket and eat in two minutes. We want a quick and easy answer to this, and there isn’t one. You want the real solution? Put all the kids in individual bulletproof bubbles. Then, you have to have bigger classrooms. Oh, and somebody has to pay and we’re already broke. The Democrats know that gun control is not the solution. When Bloomberg opens his fat yap on the day of this tragedy to advocate gun control, then what he proves is he hasn’t done any analysis. He’s just running his fat yap for political purposes.
I grew up a liberal Democrat. I even argued for gun control. I don’t anymore. I rely on reason now instead of trite emotional statements.
I saw the American military armored fighting vehicles being used against American citizens at Waco, Texas. That was a Democrat controlled government operation. How many kids did Slick Willy kill there? They knew it was a risky operation, but they did it anyway. Their statement of intent was more important than childrens lives. Nope. I worry way more about Democrats than I worry about one insane individual. We should worry more about Democrat control.
huh? I asked you if you KNEW he was “psycho”. Get a grip.
huh? I asked if you KNEW he was “psycho”. Get a grip.
Which means of course that the parents got along famously until recently.
Not in the clinical sense. He was clearly unstable and dangerous.
You really want that many more armed government workers, policing every step from childhood on up?
Yes, this is tragic and hideous, but we’ve millions and millions of kids in school every day for half the year—and school is still by far the safest place they spend their time.
Yeah, I’d be for schools having a little more protection, but what you’re suggesting is way over the top.
And Obama is stating his anger at guns. Why are your feelings relevant?
You mean you wouldn’t tell your wife the code?
Come on, I didn’t suggest you *have* to code your guns. I would like an optional code fire feature. Shared, obviously, with the family—like keyless entry in cars, but a number code on personal weapons.
Something didn’t copy correctly. The intended point was that the % of American troops in WW1, 2 and Korea who actually aimed at enemy soldiers and blew them away was very low. The VN-era reactive humanoid reactive targets were meant to improve that % buy conditioning a response. Round bullseye targets of previous wars didn’t do that.
No, they showcase celebrities to keep them in the news.
It would have saved her life and that of 20 others. So sad
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
Well her NOT securing them probably sped up the inevitable but it sounds like you are ‘placing the blame solely’ on her for the carnage. Even you said you would ‘consider’ keeping them locked up.
Again, the gun(s) did nothing but become a tool, and she sped up the process due to the accessibility but since we still don’t have all the facts etc, what would cause him to storm the school?
“They” had her at the school, his daughter at the school, he had an accomplice, he was buzzed in, he ‘fought’ his way in, when all these reports are sifted out then we will have a better idea of what actually happened, right now ‘they’ are engaged in who can put out what first - ‘damn the facts, we got a scoop’ - .
I guess we should have a ‘cooling period’ before discussing the days events as it takes a day or two to get the true facts, LIKE IT ALWAYS did, but before it wasn’t required to sift through the rumors until the facts came out.
Perhaps you obtained your guns so long ago that you were not required to transfer them through an FFL.
Or perhaps the "many guns" that you own are all long guns without pistol grips and you brought them with you when you moved from another state where you bought them from private parties.
If neither of those is true, then you just might want to look into the laws of Kalifornia on the chance that you are in violation of the laws and may be in jeopardy of being convicted of a serious crime.
No one’s feelings are relevant. Not mine ... or yours for that matter.
On that point, I am in FULL agreement. Kim Kardashinan to the max. But they beat US papers on a regular basis.
Not hard to do. :(
Very interesting and a good possibility. I did buy them long ago.
My home was robbed a few says ago and I cannot find one gun in a separate bedroom. I’m planning on buying another ... and may be surprised.
This whole thing was a tragedy.
I m merely suggesting that if one thinks they have an unstable family member, that they may want to restrict access to their firearms.
Yet they may not. And she did nt.
