Still, a recent poll indicates that the majority of Americans support the idea, describing an online sales tax as common sense. I don't know who conducted that poll or what the demographics were of their sample but I suspect it was a very carefully selected group.
No-one, and I mean absolutely not one single person I have asked about online sales tax is for it. Seems strange to me that my unofficial polling could be so strongly aligned to just the opposite.
Government is already too big, too bloated. I am 100% against anything that gives them more money, more power.

With a tax comes control.

A computer program will handle the taxing. Tax it to the billing address of the person buying.
Right or wrong, this will happen.

If the damn government CAN extract our money from something, THEY WILL.....
Once they supposedly give the UN “control” over the internet, I wonder if they’ll want a piece of the action too. It would almost be fun to have a bunch of those ‘blue helmet guys show up at the house’ to collect for non-payment, so the family(and neighbors) could have some live target practice!

“They also feel that a tax for online purchases would encourage people to buy local and keep tax dollars in their community.”
One of the main reasons I shop online is because the $%&*@$ “local” stores don’t have what I want. Morons.
Even if I have to pay state sales tax I’ll still shop online for the convenience and the local brick-and-mortar shops can FOAD.

Both Sens. Durbin and Enzi have offered the bill as an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act.Note to self: when helping write the constitution for Freeplandia, be sure it contains a "no riders" provision under the section covering prohibited legislative powers.
