The USS Eisenhower, an American aircraft carrier that holds eight fighter bomber squadrons and 8,000 men, arrived at the Syrian coast yesterday in the midst of a heavy storm, indicating US preparation for a potential ground intervention.
While the Obama administration has not announced any sort of American-led military intervention in the war-torn country, the US is now ready to launch such action "within days" if Syrian President Bashar al-Assad decides to use chemical weapons against the opposition, the Times reports.

No.
Mostly sailors, perhaps some Marines, few, if any, soldiers.
Bama gotta defend/install his Muslim Brotherhood friends.
So we can expect to see screaming Susan Sarandon have a press conference about how this is not our fight,,right? and Code Pink will be protesting soon, right?
thought not
8,000 is a drop in the thimble.
Whatever they may be they need our prayers for they are being sent to a very dangerous place by a very dangerous president.
I wish it wasnt true
I can no longer fly a US flag and get goose bumps , the real enemy is at 1500 Pensylvania ave, the aircraft carrier should be headed there

Have you been following the threads on Benghazi?
Once burned, nonce learned.
I have no doubt that yours is the correct assessment.
“Obama wants every country in the ME to fall to Islamists.”
Especially Israel.
But Israel most of all.
5,000 personal on the Aircraft and are we there so we can give out food pad for by us [sigh]
8,000 men on a carrier seems a bit high, unless “The Ike” is carrying an MEU. That would be unusual, too.
One works extremely hard to earn the title of sailor or Marine. Your lackadaisical ignorance of lumping them altogether without distinction is indicative of your lack of worthiness to benefit from their sacrifice.
I am not being lackadaisical, I am saying whoever is sent, be they soldiers or sailors or airmen or marines, they need our prayers. What do you suppose will help them more, your distinction or my prayers? I’d bet on the prayers every time. Have a good day.
If Assad has chemical weapons then he may also have a perfectly legitimate need - and even the humanitarian duty - to make sure that they don’t fall into rebels’ hands. This may require relocating them if the storage sites are likely to be captured by the enemy.
