Israel has asked Jordan twice in the last two months for a green light to attack chemical weapons facilities in Syria, according to a report by journalist Jeffrey Goldberg of The Atlantic.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has sent representatives of the Mossad intelligence agency to Amman twice already, to coordinate the matter with the Jordanians and receive their "permission" for the operation, Goldberg wrote.

Why does Bibi need Jordan’s permission to defend itself?
Perhaps Bibi is simply advising Jordan of its’ plan and not asking permission?

Within five years, Israel will not ask permission from anyone to do what is necessary to survive. They will be surrounded by a new hostile “United Islamic Republic” (Egypt, Syria and Libya), a nuclear armed Iran, and possibly an radical Islamist Saudi Arabia. Do those sheiks and hypocritical oil soaked loafers really think they are safe from the Islamic radicals? Its hard to believe that Barak has has left the Israeli government and Netanyahu is facing an election and they have not taken definitive action against Iran. Their successors will be forced to fight for their very lives.
It amazes me how much goes on in the world that US news outlets never cover. What’s the old saying, “You could fill a newspaper with what they don’t print...” or some such.
Especially if that neighbor is downwind.
My guess is that it involves use of their air space to carry out the attacks which is standard procedure.
Exactly. If it’s a matter of air space, just mosey on over the Golan, and in moments you’re flying through Syrian territory.
If I’m not mistaken, Jordanian Intelligence often works closely with the CIA and the Mossad. In October, they foiled an Al Qaeda attack on diplomatic officials. They are also hosting 150 U.S troops on the border with Syria.
Would they go anyway?
I'd think this is more of a courtesy call
Because Jordan is the only Arab country besides Egypt that recognizes and cooperates with Israel. This is more due to the Hashemite royal family’s views, and not the general public.
If Israel’s actions destabilizes the Jordanian monarchy so that it collapses like Mubarak did, then they will have no friends at all in the region.
The old saying, It’s easier to ask forgiveness than to get permission seems appropriate.

7 A prophecy against Damascus:
See, Damascus will no longer be a city
but will become a heap of ruins.
2 The cities of Aroer will be deserted
and left to flocks, which will lie down,
with no one to make them afraid.
3 The fortified city will disappear from Ephraim,
and royal power from Damascus;
the remnant of Aram will be
like the glory of the Israelites,
declares the Lord Almighty.
The problem with stories like this article is that they give the false impression that only Assad has chemical weapons inside Syria.
The rebels have them, too.
Why would Israel even need to ask Jordan when they didn’t ask to execute Operation Orchard? It’s Haaretz!
