It was a sight that shocked the world the corpse of Ribhi Badawi being dragged through the streets of Gaza City Tuesday by a motorcycle as Hamas gunmen fired into the air.
His crime? Collaborating with Israel to pinpoint Hamas targets.
But the charge wasnt true, the militants grieving widow told The News.
Actually, Badawi, 37, had spent the last four years in a Hamas prison under armed guard. He was tortured for seven months into confessing that he was working for Israel.
They burned (him) and broke his jaw and teeth, said his widow, Kholoud Badawi. He was hanged for 45 days by his arms and legs to make him confess. He confessed because of the torture.
He told me every detail of what had happened to him and he gave me a diary he was writing, she added.
Ribhi Badawi was no innocent, having belonged to the Jaljalat Brigades, an Islamic group that wanted the Palestinians ruled by strict religious law.
But he was sentenced to death in a show trial. His family appealed and asked that the sentence be reduced to 10 years in prison, and the court was due to rule the day he was executed.
We hoped they would accept our appeal because they had no evidence just his supposed confession, she said.

... if you lay down with dogs, you come up with fleas......
Well at least they didn’t put panties on his head or waterboard him. now that would have been really bad
Far more Palestinian area Arabs are killed by Hamas than by Israel. This guy was guilty, of being a member of a rival jihadi party.
Torture, and political imprisonment is a fact of life in Gaza. When I lived in Israel, and Hamas took over, they liked to take the loosing political party members up to the roof tops, shoot out their kneecaps and toss them to the street below. As they normally chose buildings three stories tall or taller, I never quite understood the waste of bullets.
Guess it was just fun to see them suffer up close.
Islam, Satans claim to fame.
I’m torn. The Compassionate Christian side of me feels sorry for the man and his family. But his dad said he hated Israel more than Hamas. Its a good bet he voted for The Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas to lead his country.
So.... elections have consequences. I guess that filthy terrorist citizenry is getting what they asked for.
On another note, now that the UN is officially recognizing Gaza a sovereign nation, can Israel declare war? Why not? Now they are being attacked by another country, not just a goup of radical muslim terrorists.
Tortured for 4 years he “confesses”. The ragheads see no problem with that.
So a brutal barbaric troglydyte member of a death-worshipping ‘religion’ is OK with doing this to ANYONE who defies Islam-but not to one of their own,eh? I hope they all kill each other-one less Muslim in the world is a good thing. Slit your own daughter’s throat for ‘shaming’ you, but when your rabid neighbors impose the same sentence for a collaborator its terrible? Why justify killing one innocent and not another? It’s all death...don’t they enjoy it??
Seeing evil destroying one another puts a smile on my face every time.
Where is the outrage from the Code Pink commies?
Where are the hrumphs from John F. Kerry?
Where is Mikhail Moron today?
Amy Goodman?
Bill Maher?
I love when Islam eats its own.

Innocent, shminnocent. We were bored and wanted to drag someone throught he street.
“Badawis father, Ahmed, said his son hated the Israelis more than Hamas.”
More’s the pity.
My son could never have been an informer, he said. They say he got money from the Israelis. Look at his house. This is the house of a poor man. He helped everyone. Everybody liked him. I bless him.
“Hamas officials declined to comment. They referred reporters to comments last week by a Hamas leader who said such executions must not happen again.”
But, hey! They’re so much fun!
