I can understand why people were willing to pretend that Romney was OK after he became the only way to get Obama out of the White House.
But I do not understand how anyone can defend him NOW. Pro abortion, pro gay marriage, pro socialized medicine, pro big government.
Vicious when it came to fighting against conservatives, but wimpy when it came to fighting Obama. Now that it no longer matters, I can say that he didn’t even win that first debate. Obama lost it. But Romney didn’t really say anything all that memorable. He just stood there smiling and looking handsome while Obama screwed up.
“..Pro abortion, pro gay marriage, pro socialized medicine, pro big government...”
As I did for all of our candidates, I listened closely to his debates, his speeches and interviews. I read all of his position papers printed on his web page. I saw none of that which you say!

There’s nothing to defend about Romney now. I wish more people had voted for him simply because it would at least have cleared Jarrett and Axelrod out of the WH (in addition to the Boy King, of course), but he’s toast now. There was a rumor that Bambi was going to offer him some position, and it wouldn’t surprise me in the least if he took it, just as one final kick in the teeth to us.
That said, he began running for Prez in 2008 (if not before) and bought, threatened or lied to eliminate anybody in his way. If we don’t want a repeat of this, letting some other rich RINO buy the position, we’ve got to start grooming a few good candidates now, so that there’s name recognition and a support base at the very outset. We shouldn’t spend our time tearing down candidates at the outset, especially with mindless invective, but should try to think who we would want and really do something about it. There are actually a number of possibles this time around, and I think several of them actually do want to run. (No more “Dream Candidates” who can’t even decide if they want to run until it’s too late!)
