Republicans: An old, white, dying breed of voter?

The Republicans are old white men, red necks and racists. They're in thrall to tea-baggers, who do not understand or give a darn about minorities.

If only other Republicans knew how often I had this hateful brew (hatred of white male conservatives is still socially acceptable on the left) shoved down my throat. But what's been directed at me personally is worse: I have been called a sell-out, hater of a brother (meaning Obama), and numerous choice words I can't share here (hatred of conservative black women from the left is trickier, but even more heart-felt).

...It is time to lay down the tracks of a new "underground railroad," a movement to help a people who are in bondage to the Democratic Party find hope and encouragement in the GOP, a movement that will wake up complacent Democrats and Republicans alike, a movement that will stop the hemorrhaging of the GOP. We will not be televised - the mainstream media can't imagine that we exist and we remain invisible to them - but we will be webvised, we will be heard online through bloggers, videos, e-mails and text messages, twitters, Facebook and more. We can no longer be shut out. We are the voice of the 21st century and we will be heard. If the RNC continues to think of blacks and Latinos as an afterthought, the GOP will continue its genteel decline and forfeit any chance of victory in 2016.

But isn’t more fun to lose and lose and be part of a cult (+50s white) so we can dream up and propagate grand conspiracy theories to each other (circular) about the polls and all the swing states elections being stolen?

I can relate to a lot of what she’s saying. I believe in the Constitution (all of it), limited government, the free market, rule of law, traditional values, strong defense, etc., but as a black urban dweller, there isn’t a whole lot about the GOP that I can really hang my hat on. They’re not even on the playing field anywhere around me. I live in a one-party state really, and I am just a lone voice of dissent shouting in the wilderness. Hard to convert very many people that way.

I'm an old white guy who doesn't hang around this site too much any more, but I believe the same things you believe. At times I wonder how focused the GOP is on them, though.

Your problem is that you have no clue what time it really is.

The GOP quit Conservatives, plain and simple. They have made that abundantly clear. Anyone who still doesn’t understand that - is either a party hack or cognitively dissonant because they cannot acknowledge the truth.

Your approach of practicing insanity was bad enough when we were still a Republic and the GOP was simply Democrat party light.

It’s almost criminal now that we’ve been overthrown in a velvet Marxist coup and people like you still lecture Conservatives that the best approach is to do what had been proven to be a losing gambit in the GOP; stay slaves on the plantation and try to reform a corrupted liberal party from within.

Your approach of “taking your marbles” and quitting the game altogether rather than working within the Republican party to reorient it toward a more conservative position seems very short-sighted and counterproductive, IMHO.
