GREELEY, Colo. – A woman was arrested and charged with felony robbery after a scuffle during a late-night Thanksgiving sale at a Greeley Walmart.
The Greeley Tribune reported that 22-year-old Amino Idris faces felony robbery charges after she allegedly knocked down another shopper and took a laptop out of her hands during a door-buster sale at the Walmart Supercenter located at 3103 S. 23rd Ave., in Greeley.

I read the rest of the story and can’t figure it out. The assailant took it from the potential buyer but it wasn’t paid for yet. How was it robbery? Did the assailant not pay for it after she took it from the potential buyer?
If the woman from whom it was grabbed hadn’t bought it yet, then from whom was it robbed?

It will never hold up unless the victim had already paid for it. If she hadn’t paid for it it was still the property of Walmart, and the woman didn’t steal it. It would be a civil mater. No9w the knocking down part sounds like a crime.

Yeah... I could see accusations of simple assault and disorderly conduct, and Walmart itself giving it back to the initial purchaser to buy and banning the grabber from its stores... but it wasn’t robbed from anyone who owned it. The store owned it.
Assault and battery and disorderly conduct... yep. Robbery? How can there be a theft without the owner losing it? At most, what was stolen was the opportunity to buy the item, which would have been worth what?
If I was playing with my brother’s golf clubs and someone took them from me by force, was I not robbed? I don’t think robbery is defined by the ownership of what was taken, but rather by the act of taking something under the lawful control of a person without their permission. If I go shopping and put something in my cart, I’m in lawful possession of that item even if it is technically still owned by the store.
Weren’t those the same two who had to be treated after fighting over catching a bouquet at a wedding awhile back?
robbery involves force or intimidation of a person, theft or burglary is concerned with property...its a good charge imo...even though it still belonged to the store...
