Rationing of basic food stuffs didn't end in the UK until 1954. Vast portions of the housing stock weren't rebuilt until the 60's.

And the UK war-debt was only paid off in 2006.

And neither of those things had anything to do with World War 2. The German blitz was a pinprick compared to the carpet bombings of Germany and Japan,
