Fort Pierce The St. Lucie County Canvassing Board resumed ballot counting this morning in the tight congressional race between Republican Rep. Allen West and Democrat Patrick Murphy under the watchful eyes of dozens of attorneys and supporter of both candidates.
Canvassing board member Tod Lowery, who regularly updates the audience on the process, explained that the board still had write-in ballots and other questionable ballots from 8 days of early voting to review before the noon deadline for the states 67 supervisors of elections to submit their final, certified tallies to the state Division of Elections.
Last Sunday, the canvassing board agree to recount ballots cast the last three days of early voting after election officials revealed that machines had been unable to read some of the electronic memory cartridges. Wests attorneys then sought a recount of all early ballots after the elections office admitted double-counting some ballots and ignoring others on election night.
There was such a cloud of suspicion, said Jeffrey Scott Shapiro, a Boca Raton attorney on the West legal team. Shapiro observed much of the ballot review in Palm Beach county. I felt the way the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections handled it created suspicion and I still dont know if it was unnecessary or justified.
That recount began at 9:40 a.m. yesterday and continued until 10 p.m. The canvassing board resumed counting at 8 a.m. today. Unlike the 4-day ballot review in Palm Beach county that ended November 10, where Palm Beach Supervisor of Elections Susan Bucher offered few updates and ignored or routinely declined to answer questions from reporters, attorneys and the public, the St. Lucie Canvassing Board has allowed representatives has encouraged officials from both campaigns to agree on protocol. That includes how and when results will be released today.
We just want to be transparent and assure voters that every vote is counted, said County Judge Kathryn Nelson, a member of the canvassing board.
Murphys campaign officials declined to comment on the recount process. However, Wests campaign manager, Tim Edson, said he is pleased with how smoothly the recount has gone and impressed with the canvassing boards attention to detail.
Im confident with what weve seen here, the results will be accurate, Edson said. One lingering concern remains: the West teams request to view the poll sign-in sheets from election day. Edson said they had received some of those records from Palm Beach county and have not received the sign-in sheets which voters sign went the vote in St. Lucie county. Wests campaign wants to compare the number of signatures on the poll sign-in sheets to the computer tabulations.
I’m praying for enough votes for West!! I’m so proud of him for exposing this “mess” and not backing down!!
I do also. In the event that the dims steal the recount, the House could refuse to seat Murphy until there were a proper accounting for all votes. Of course this would require Boehner to show some leadership.
All done, waiting for announcement.
Any minute now.
Too long!
Praying for Mr. West. If the election does not go in his favor, I continure to wish for God’s Blessings upon him and his family. Eventually those people who participated in this deception, will find difficulties in their lives which will make them pause and remember the pain they have caused from their actions.
LOL! Git ‘er Done!
West 2016.
he’ll stand up for my vote unlike the GOPe.
Gee. I wonder if they can find a judge who will extend the deadline.
Hey! I know! The judge who extended the deadline for early voting!
Yeah. Right.
Godspeed, Colonel West.

Wondering about the timing? Supposedly been finished for 40 minutes but waiting until the 12 High Noon deadline. Is that to bar last-minute challenges before it’s headed to Tallahassee? or something more nefarious? Never know with the libs and the Rhino’s that are in the same circles.
One dummie is claiming that Gertrude was drugged to get her out of the way, LOL
This happened to us in Washington State when the Rats stole the governorship from Rossi.
Rats are devious creatures.
Who did the drugging? I’d expect the drugging out of the CURRENT administration (Obama).
Voters of Florida, Allen West, win or lose will continue to be successful politically for both Florida and, more importantly, our wonderful nation, the United States of America. The man is the embodiment of America, success, family love and service to the nation!!!dertake
I do urge, however....that Florida voters untertake the the recall of Senator Bill Nelson, after he is sworn into office on January 20, 2013. The reason? Who cares!!! Make one up!!! Hey...if the Democrats and their labor goons, could force a recall of Scott Walker, the Governor of Wisconsin...we should the same for Bill Nelson. I am certain in a “single, stand alone, recall election”, we can defeat this braindead sad species of humanity!!!
Can anyone one highlight the necessary steps required for a recall Election in the state of Florida. Republicans....get your butts in gear, and start making things happen. With a little hard work and effort....we just might be able to take over the Senate, using a strategy that is readily avaiable in most states.
reported West 249? short of a full recount?
Federal offices are governed by the US Constitution, and there is no recall provision. US Senators can only be removed by the votes of their fellow Senators (for conviction of a crime, etc.)
