(Reuters) - Former U.S. first lady Barbara Bush said on Thursday that she's ready to move beyond this year's campaign season, in comments that came at an Austin conference the week after President Barack Obama's re-election.
"I'm tired now of the elections," Bush, who had endorsed Republican Mitt Romney, said at a forum on America's first ladies. "People spoke. Move on, get on with it. I want to do other things and not to be ugly."

I’m just very angry lately over this. The bushes have taken advantage of us.
Get on with it, finish the job!
She didn’t have any trouble making snarky comments about Palin staying in Alaska. Funny how so many of these prominent Republicans can attack fellow Republicans e.g McCain, Christie, Barbara Bush, Rove, but when it comes to Obama and Dems it’s only words of praise and they can’t touch their toes fast enough.
Sounds a bit like “Let them eat cake.” She has no clue what goes on in our middle-class lives so it’s easy for her to say “Move on”. So she’s “tired now of the elections.” We’re tired now of Bushes.
Wow. Speechless.
Shes not going to be losing her job or starving so her kids/pets can have food.
Shut up, Babs.
My sentiments too. She's set for the rest of her life...and she's toward the end of her life. Her kids and grandkids probably don't have to worry either. Easy for her to say let's just move on.
I understand that, Glock. And the Bush family was certainly no help to Romney. W did not endorse Romney till the very end and only after he was cornered in an elevator. Now, I do understand there is no love lost between the Romney family and the Bush family. ....I do understand you being angry.
Reagan finally had the wagon and our attitudes turned around and pointed in the right direction.
Then, they took over.
So Barbara, is the Enforcer because she is so wise and wonderful and stern. Blah, blah, blah. I’ve heard this many times before. I guess it’s supposed to be charming and funny. It’s just lame and overdone now. Who cares?

Tell me, Bitsy. What else is there to do other than to "move on and get on with it? Wallow in disappointment? Am I missing something?
Do something! Get on with it!
Criticizing ex-First Ladies doesn't change much.
No and George P ensures the lineage a seat at the table of elites with his preferred hue.
woot woot... my sentiments exactly...Barbara just needs to get back to her life of luxury, she has no financial worries, she will be dead in a few years and won’t live to see the damage done to this country...so yes Barbara get on with your life of luxury....
With all due respect. Barbara Bush is as old as the hills and due to kick off any day now...what does she care if the country turns into a third world shit hole? As for those family members she leaves behind...she also leaves enough money for them to pay for whatever healthcare they want. None of them ever have to work again! Her opinion, in my opinion, doesn’t count for much.
This just another Bush wanting other people to join lockstep with her. Personally I want the Bush clan to go away too.
I wonder if she has any clue how revealing her comments are about her attitude regarding tyranny? She wants to fiddle while Rome burns so we aren’t quite so “ugly.” Well isn’t that special? She just hates the patriots making a scene while our country is being dismantled. No flame throwers for her like Newt Gingrich. Sarah Palin can stay in Alaska. She reveals more about herself than she even knows.
The bushes and their ilk stopped the Reagan revolution. Thanks. Go away.
