Actually, as a Senator who voted against every major weapons system over the last 25 years, he'd be perfect for overseeing our military, don't you think? Washington Post:
*****
President Obama is considering asking Sen. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.) to serve as his next defense secretary, part of an extensive rearrangement of his national security team that will include a permanent replacement for former CIA director David H. Petraeus.
Although Kerry is thought to covet the job of secretary of state, senior administration officials familiar with the transition planning said that nomination will almost certainly go to Susan E. Rice, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.
John O. Brennan, Obama's chief counterterrorism adviser, is a leading contender for the CIA job if he wants it, officials said. If Brennan goes ahead with his plan to leave government, Michael J. Morell, the agency's acting director, is the prohibitive favorite to take over permanently. Officials cautioned that the White House discussions are still in the early stages and that no decisions have been made.

How perfect is this? A defense secretary who never met a weapons system he didn't hate, and a Secretary of State who thinks the UN should run American foreign policy.

RE: It would give Scott Brown another shot at the Senate...
A very nice idea, but totally unlikely. Deval Patrick gets to appoint John Kerry’s replacement.
Which means whoever that person is will serve the remaining of Kerry’s term till 2016. Brown might want to run again in 4 years...
Did they change that law? That’s how Brown got in the first place.
To be filled by the likes of Barney Frank, another drug and alcohol addled Kennedy, or Obama's good buddy Deval Patrick. Rest assured, Deval Patrick will have a cushy federal position to showcase his civil rights expertise before this all shakes out.
Until Obama was re-elected, if someone had said John F'ing Kerry was considered for Secretary of Defense, I would have laughed it off as a lame joke.
More Obama spit in the eyes of honorable men and women.
Wait a minute. This guy denounced his military service. What kind of example does that set to other nations, as well as the US military. This is a joke, right?

The current law calls for a new election but the Rats can change election laws on a whim because they have such huge majorities in the Legislature.
