IRVING, Texas Hostess Brands Inc. is permanently closing three bakeries following a nationwide strike by its bakers union. The Texas-based maker of Twinkies and Ding Dongs says the strike has prevented it from producing and delivering products. Hostess warned earlier this month that the strike, by about 30 percent of its workforce, could lead to bakery closures. It said Monday that it will close bakeries in Seattle, St. Louis and Cincinnati that collectively employ 627 workers. The company has about 18,300 employees. Little Debbie, Little Debbie, you make me want to walk.....like a camel!
Let them eat cake!
Isn’t Hostess already in bankruptcy?
They don’t need another job. You’re paying them to loaf now.
Ho-Ho Ho-Ho Ho-Ho Ho-Ho
There was an airline where the flight attendants were negotiating their first contract. The company came to them with an incredible first offer that included a huge pay raise, better work conditions, all sorts of positives but the union said, “Nooooooo...we NEVER take the first offer.”
So several years later, the flight attendants signed the original offer. If I worked there, I would find some way to sue the union to recoup those lost years.
“Hmmm
think nayone paid attention that the plants closing are in union states? None of the plants in right to work states were closed.”
When the unions finally give you a good LEGAL reason to say “bye bye” - you don’t want to waste it.
I guess the Twinkies and Bud breakfast is going to end.
Just when you think things couldn't get any more bizarre or sordid, David Petraeus is reported to have naked pictures of Little Debbie on his hard drive.
Mrs. Petraeus said to be "livid."
As for the junk food cake bakery from PA that my local Publix had a “buy one get one free” sale on today, no I didn't buy your product.
And I won't.
Ever.
People, read the labels on the products you buy!
Sorry Hostess Brands.
Best of wishes for coming out of Chapter 11.
But if you can't work with the lunatic unions and have to shut down completely, just do it quickly, before your suppliers suffer even more.
The seedlings that will rise up from your ashes will know not to grow to big to maintain quality, and won't build factories in hostile states.
I wonder if a business could ask applicants if they have ever been member of a union in previous jobs. If the answer is yes, you could say "Well then, bye".
Bring it all to Texas, we can bake for America without unions!
Hostess (Interstate Brands) was in BK some years ago.
“...following a nationwide strike by its bakers union”
GOOD FOR THEM!! I will have to go out and buy some twinky’s this week
Wyatt’s Twinkie!
2 of the 3 states went for Obama. 2 of the 3 states have Democrat governors. Let them figure out how to make up for the lost jobs & taxes.
Since these people didn't like the way Hostess was running their business, now they'll have plenty of time to come up with their own baked-goods products to sell to the public.
Apparently, those Union workers think filing for Chapter 11 is merely a low down, dirty, company accounting trick to cheat honest hard workers from annual pay and benefit increases.
I honestly can't tell you how much a package of Hostess brand snack cakes costs today, since I stopped buying them several years ago.
Size vs price, and product quality questions have been iffy for several years.
Frankly, I am never happy to buy packaged foodstuffs from “Union employee” producers.
OTOH, I also don't buy meat products from Tyson Foods, because of the number of illegals they habitually employed.
Today, we are faced with an unholy union of “Unions” representing both illegals and sub-standard production companies in our food chain supply.
Good thing I know how to cook from scratch!
An anthem if I ever heard one!
This makes me livid, they have jobs, yet they are still angry at their employers, Moochele is eating their cake while she tells us it’s bad, the economy sucks, they are able to work, yet they don’t, fire them all, unions are driven by greed, traitors!
