Kroger to Slash Hourly Workers to Avoid Obamacare Penalties
Flopping Aces ^ | 11/4/2012 | Doug Ross

Posted on 11/12/2012 12:05:46 PM PST by tobyhill

Operative Faith reveals that Kroger will soon join the ranks of Durden Restaurants and slash the hours of its non-exempt (hourly) workers to avoid millions in Obamacare penalties.

To give you a sense of Kroger’s size and importance, its sales last year were $90 billion and it employs nearly 350,000 people. Most of its jobs are hourly and the vast majority of workers are neither millionaires or billionaires.

Faith is a mid-level manager at Kroger and reports the dire news:

Last week we found out that, beginning in January, any employee who is not full-time at that point, will be limited to 28 hours per week and all new hires will be subject to the same policy.

Currently, part-time employees can work as many hours as needed.

Many Kroger employees, I believe, will be shocked to find out about this new policy.

Darden Restaurants = Red Lobster

Darden = Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Longhorn steakhouse

Also run by a black guy who is a big Obama donor.

Since it is run by Democrats, Darden should be the centerpiece case for a GOP attack on Kenyancare fail. Everybody has an Olive Garden in neighborhood and can relate.

“everyone gets half a job and no more unemployment”

And we arrive at my tagline posted months and months below. The plan all along.

How long before the down leveraging begins and they start fining 75%, 80%, 90 %, 100% of the population.

And the dirty fascists ORIGINAL sponsors, want to “replace” it to begin the banking-counterfeit “insurance” shakedown of every American.

This is what the Massachusetts-Hillary shoved down everyone’s throats as the failed election choice was about. And they further had planned to raid everyone’s social security retirements. The deflection propaganda now speak being, “fiscal cliff” “fiscal cliff” “fiscal cliff”.

YES, MANY Kroger employees (full time) are union. If we knew just how many of the 350,000 employees were union members, we would see just how much of an impact this will actually be. What this will likely do, is put more of a ‘pick-up-the-slack’ burden on the union members who in turn will revolt and go out on strike; and the vicious circle continues.

Wagmans? Never heard of that one. It sounds like you mean Wegmans, but you can’t, because Wegman’s is one of the biggest ripoffs around. The only worse ripoff is Fresh Fields.

Is Kroger a union shop?

Let them eat union bosses if they get hungry.

I’m predicting about 15% unemployment in one year.

You give it that long?

I give it until after the Christmas "rush," if we even have one.

Wonder if Mr. Darden (?) is thinking twice about having fed the Obama beast now?

“by making it too expensive for private businesses to provide insurance to their employees.”

It’s insane already. Here’s a list of health bennies I was sent upon an interview with a prospective employer, $2000 deductible and 70% co-insurance with the employer contributing $450/mo. Not bad for just me but for those with dependents it’s horrible.

Employee Coverage per month: $582.56
Employee + Spouse per month: $1281.63
Employee + Child (ren) per month: $1106.87
Family Coverage per month: $1805.94

At my company, if I want to cover my spouse, it's an additional $150/month, because she is eligible for her company's medical plan....So I cover me and the kids, and she just covers herself, it's ridiculous to have two separate health plans for one household.

LOL! “Wagman’s”? Can’t say I have ever heard of them, either. But then again, I have been told that I do need to get out and explore a little more often than I do... :-)

-- I'm predicting about 15% unemployment in one year. --

I figure some people will work two 20 hour / week jobs, and each job will count as being employed.

To take an extreme example, if half of the people looking for work each have two jobs, the government can call it 0% unemployment - the number of (filled) jobs is the same as the number of workers seeking jobs.

An, oh, what an upside in the statistics! There could be negative unemployment! More jobs than people!

One thing you can count on, the government will figure a way to keep the official stats from looking that bad.

This is all to change the concept of full-time to less than 40 hours a week, to be like Europe.

Truth be known, we’re already at about 16% and have been for some time. I think you mean 25%.

Kroger to Slash Hourly Workers to Avoid Obamacare Penalties
***Look at the bright side. For every 3 workers that gets dropped down 10 hours/week, there is a new 30 hour/week job created. Obamacare is a job creator! /barf

you can barely find enough people at those wages with some semblance of a work ethic to fill those shifts now.

Another option--a whole lot of hourly wage earners will be working at least two part-time jobs to make ends meet.

THE BOSTON SCIENTIFIC NUMBERS ARE NOT SINCE THE ELECTION!!! All of the layoffs that have occurred at BSX are prior to the 2012 election and were announced in 2010-11.
