Gingrich: GOP needs to be "inclusive"
In the aftermath of Mitt Romney's presidential loss last week, Newt Gingrich is joining the cadre of Republicans calling for the Republican Party to more actively reach out to a more diverse electorate, arguing on Monday that the party needs to become more "inclusive."
"I think we need to be inclusive, and I emphasize the difference between inclusive and outreach," Gingrich said Monday morning in an appearance on ABC's "The View." "Outreach is when five white guys have a meeting and call you. Inclusive is when you're in the meeting. And I think we have to understand to be inclusive."
Gingrich, who was joined by his wife Callista on the show, argued that Republicans had "misunderstood the American people" in 2012, and that the GOP can't just wait until 2016 to try to broaden its reach.
"The Republican doctrine of highly paid consultants spending hundreds of millions of dollars on 30-second ads doesn't build a party," he said. "The Republican Party better not wait until 2016. The Republican Party better rethink in 2013 how we're going to deal with the country's issues and do it in a way that the average American looks up and says, you know, those are folks I'm willing to trust with my future. We lost that."
He added that "there were a whole series of fundamental things that were really wrong" with how the GOP framed the 2012 election, including the fact that the Obama campaign so successfully appealed to non-white voters.

v. Repeal all banking laws passed under Obama
vi. Do not tax Americans abroad
C. Decrease taxes on all businesses
D. Decrease taxes on dividends and interest income
E. Decrease Long Term Capital Gains Tax
2. Cut Spending
A. Rejigger Welfare and Medicaid
B. Rejigger Social Security for example
i. Defined Retirement income greater than or equal to $50,000, you may not collect until 70
C. Dispose of the following Agencies and Departments
i. EPA
ii. Education
iii. Energy
iv. Agriculture
v. Homeland Security
a. privatize TSA
vi. Health
vii. FDA, FCC, FTC, FERC
viii. New Tax Code that eliminated the IRS

He is saying we need to put more focus/more ground work in minority neighborhoods of the Latinos and AA in our party because it does look like the white boys party. Even I feel that way..We need to modern ourselves and find new younger people for out front like Palin and Rubio -we need new blood. as long as you kick and scream, throw off on people every day...we are going to have problems of losing. There is no national leader for the Republicans yet alone for the conservative moment. GW Bush is almost toxic due to the way in which the media has done things (and he caused some of the blame to be there) Newt has to be wondering what went wrong. Glad he can talk so we can work through this. People are in shock because they thought the Marxist was so dangerous, he would lose. Now, this..trying to figure out the problem. Part of it was the candidate. We cannot be a party for one issue. Neither party will force the illegals here now to leave. Can't you accept that. All of the years--they won't do it.

If you are black or Hispanic and even moderately conservative you will go right to the front of the candidate line in any state in the union.
I’m with you. The MSM was bad in 1980 but they are even worse today. They have made no bones about whose side they are on.Plus the demographics are what they are. Mitt Romney could have run the best Conservative campaign in the world, but the results would have been the same. The takers are quickly outnumbering the producers.
I do believe some fraud was involved, but not to the extent that it could have changed the outcome of the election. If there is evidence of fraud let’s find it and present it. Otherwise, it’s sour grapes.
Of course, it's the media. Lies and bias from them and then voter fraud. Until they point the finger at where it belongs - they are spinning their wheels and I have them on mute.
That's true. We are never going to get the votes of the lazy and selfish. But there are a lot of members of minority groups who are not lazy and selfish. Some of them are middle-income or even upper-middle income and they work hard.
I was just listening this morning to a black woman who calls in to a local conservative talk show. She is a regular caller, a mother of five, former military, very religious. She described her recent effort to educate another friend, a black man. She was driving in a car listening to talk radio, which he'd never heard before, and she talked to him about some of the things that we conservatives know. He said, "How do you know all this stuff? Where did you hear it?" He had never heard Fox, or Rush, or Mark, or Chris Plante, because he had been told the standard line that they're all evil racists. When she informed him of the truth, he was stunned and admitted that he would never have voted for Obama if he'd known those things.
Of course there are many, many blacks who would vote for a black man like Obama no matter what sort of atrocity he committed. But there are others who are just uninformed, and if you can show them how it's not in their interests to have a man like Obama in office and tell them what his positions are, they do change their minds. I've seen it.
Why do we have to struggle to promote blacks and hispanics as candidates just to prove how “big tent” we are?
But it's not a struggle to promote blacks and Hispanics. If they are worthy and they embrace our beliefs, like Mia Love, they're welcome to run for higher office. Why should they be excluded? Is the GOP just a white guys' party? We are big tent. Conservative principles do work for everyone of every ethnic or racial or social backgrounds. we really are going to become extinct if we don't have everyone on board. The issue is just to stick to our principles and make sure that minorities understand that those principles are good for everyone.
I agree with you that there is no way to inspire the takers, except by the fear of hunger. Hunger is the motivation for most people to get off their backsides and work, after all. It's certainly my motivation. You may not ever get the ghetto to vote GOP.
So you voted for some one who doesn’t mean what they say. So it was anyone but Newt. Gotcha.
