The Myth of the Missing Three Million Republicans
The American Thinker ^ | 11-12-12 | Jack Cashill

Posted on 11/12/2012 5:38:48 AM PST by afraidfortherepublic

A score of people this past week have asked me about the three million Republicans allegedly "missing" at the polls this year. For starters, if the Washington Post is to be believed, Mitt Romney received 1.3 million fewer votes than John McCain did in 2008, not 3 million. For the record, Obama received 7.5 million fewer votes in 2012 than he did in 2008.

More than 1.1 million of the Republican votes were "lost" in California. It is not that California Republicans turned against Romney. His percentage of the vote was higher than McCain's in 2008. It is just they know their votes were in vain in that increasingly absurd state. The same is likely true in New York State where Romney fell more than a half-million votes short of McCain's totals. Excluding these two states, Romney received 300,000 more votes than McCain.

Many conservatives stayed home.

I just talked with one last night. We haven't talked much in the last year and he is way too busy to be reading sites like this explaining the facts about Obama. With only a little time spent on MSM, many people did not realize the nature of what we were up against. For some people at this site, that is hard to realize. These non-voters are not stupid (although some probably are) just out of touch.

Hey Ax,
The guy I talked with last night was too busy panning for gold to learn about the issues or vote (along with a dozen other hobbies and his work).

I am forced to conclude that they simply would not vote for a Mormon.

Sickens me when you consider that they would vote for a demented back-stabbing fossil like McCain, but there we be.

They were there - at least in my opinion they had to be there with the many reasons. On election night I thought the results didn’t make sense.

For a few weeks I observed what was happening and I thought that Romney would win handily. My reasoning:

1. The 2010 elections - shellacking and a change in the US House unlike anything seen in 80 years or 8 decades.

2. Chick-fil-a day; and the pathetic counter-protests

3. Prop 8 in California; demographics were young, middle age and old Californians and Catholics/Protestants/Mormons.

4. The Unemployment rate

5. Obamacare

6. Violation of Conscience

7. Violation of Religions freedom

8. Fort Hood

9. Kill List

10. The cut in Military positions about 1 year ago

11. The 90 day pink slips

12. The Black voters in D.C. voting against Gay Marriage

13. The 2 SCOTUS cases on concealed carry (DC and Chicago)

14. DOMA

15. Don’t ask Don’t tell

16. Russia Flexibility

17. Poland

18. Keystone Pipe Line

19. Israel

20. eating “Beans and Franks”

21. “Take a pain-pill”

22. “You didn’t build that”

Seek to find evidence of Voter fraud; if it exists hopefully it will be seen.

What forces you to reach that inane conclusion? It was BS when the GOP establishment tried to blame that for the reluctance of the conservative wing to embrace Romney in the primaries, and it is an even bigger pile of steaming BS now.

Conservatives not voting in CA or NJ or NY or MA or IL or states like that is understandable given the futility of voting against dems in those types of states

And if your "vote won't matter", then still come to the polls and vote for someone ideologically closer to your beliefs. I usually vote for the Republican if I expect a close election and the Libertarian if Ohio is looking guaranteed one way or the other. Even though I don't agree with the LP 100%, I'm still closer to them than the Gutless Old Party and I want the GOP hungry to get back the libertarians rather than trying to cross the aisle to their friends the Democrats.

BS. Bush won in Florida and was winning the whole time.

Seriously, are you going to argue this? Do you think this negates the FACTS of what actually happened despite Bush winning? The FACT is rinos are losers even if Bush trounced Gore's ass!

That is weak, I was panning for gold Saturday... and at work, and also casting lead, on Sunday. I managed to vote while working 50+ hours a week, prospecting/treasure hunting, and competitively shooting...

You should flog him!

Re-read your own post that I cited when I called BS on your statement.

And the 1st they won, Bush was selected! (emphasis added)
You argued that W was "selected" (implied rather than elected).

The fact Bush and the country HAD to go thru the recount is the point! Bush should have KICKED Gore's ass in the election, but "barely" won!

GET IT?

The point is Romney should have slaughtered Obama and no matter how you look at it rinos are losers.

Its no myth. Many conservatives stayed home.

Of which many were evangelical Christian Conservatives I believe. I for one didn't stay home but I did skip voting for the Presidential position and voted only for the most conservative candidates I could identify down ballot. Just couldn't bring myself to lower my standards that low.

Agreed. But it is far easier to use that for an excuse than to own up to the fact and realize just what Romney truly represented to the conservative voter.

Any California conservative who did not vote is a d*mned fool.

They helped the Rats pass a huge tax increase right away by approving Prop 30 and screwed taxpayers for years to come by getting a supermajority in the legislature.

For out-of-staters not familiar with Prop13, it requires a 2/3 vote in both houses of the legislature to pass a tax increase. Well, they are still counting but we know the Rats steal the close ones, so we are toast.

Goodbye Prop 13 and if that happens goodbye CA for me.

no matter how you look at it rinos are losers.

All this RINO/GOP-e crap just works in the Rats favor by dividing us.

Suppose you tell me who was better than Romney among the GOP candidates that we had this year?

Look at the candidates du-jour, Perry, Gingrich, Cain, Gingrich and on to Santorum. All of them except Santorum went down in flames by their own doing. Gingrich was fatally flawed. Can you imaging what the Rats would have done with his multiple marriages, sitting on the couch with Pelosi etc etc?? Santorum had to quit because he knew he would have had his ass-kicked in his home state of PA by the GOP voters in their primary. If you call the primary voters RINOs then you are not Republican.

I hope the GOP/RNC/republican Party are so divided it will take a divine intervention to put it back together. All three of those you mention were better than Romney because they would have had the fight in them to tell the American electorate the DESTRUCTION Obama has caused to their livelihood and their nation.

See, what you ABO/rino enablers (and I include myself in this category because I supported Romney when he won the primary, thus losing all my principles) are all about, is cowardice. Afraid the public won't buy a STRONG conservative.

The facts are on the stay-at-homers side. Three rinos have lost in the last four elections with one basically being selected! The evidence is clear, but the Stupid party can't put two and two together and obviously some freeps can't either. Or, maybe you can and like being run over by dems socialist, and marxist. Maybe you like becoming something the American Ideal is not?

It's time to give conservatives the stage and yank with a hardwood cane the LS out of the bumbling, hapless, talentless rinos by the neck!

You certainly do not speak for me. I would have supported a strong conservative if there had been one running.

All three of those you mention were better than Romney because they would have had the fight in them

You must be in an alternate reality. Perry came off as a blithering idiot who could not put two words together. Cain could not keep his pants zipped up. Santorum was so weak he could not have won the primary in his home state. Gingrich was forced to resign as Speaker because of his checkered past.

I hope the GOP/RNC/republican Party are so divided it will take a divine intervention to put it back together.

Take your suicidal "Masada complex" somewhere else.

Ha! Oh, I have. I am no longer a republican and will do everything in my power to defeat the STUPID party convincing people like yourself to finally leave a party that does not represent your values anymore, and goes out of their way to diss you. The GOPe/RNC/republicans can GFT!

My tipping point was reached this election. How Stupid do you have to be NOT to realize rinos are losers. The republican's have lost 3 out of the last 4 elections and you call "ME" suicidal for not wanting to put up with stupidity anymore and try to change for the better? What moronic thinking is this?

What kind of conservative do you want, God himself?!

my vote never counts, but I vote anyway just to give the candidate an extra tally mark in the popular vote, and to watch my county turn red despite the blueness of the state.

Oh, I see, the fact you agree with the MSM demonizing purview of conservatives candidates tells me all I need to know about your brain function! Romney had SUCH a stellar past himself, he was the perfect candidate, much better than the other three. < /dumbass> It's IDIOT thinking like this which gives you the opportunity this morning to wake up to another 4 more years of PRESIDENT Obama!

However, I will not be a hypocrite, I supported Romney too after someone here convinced me after the primary was all over. Now, I just realize how wrong I was I didn't fight more for one of those conservatives. I have given the republican party all the chance I can! They have failed!
