(CNSNews.com) -- Although the Republican-dominant House of Representatives controls the federal purse strings, House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) said that Tuesdays election victory by President Barack Obama changed how he will approach the GOP goal of repealing the health reform law, saying that the presidents reelection made it the law of the land.
Well, I think the election changes that. Its pretty clear that the president was re-elected. Obamacare is the law of the land, Boehner told ABC News Diane Sawyer in an interview Thursday when asked if the House GOP would still make repeal its mission.
However, Boehner also said that the law was still on the table, noting that he still considered it bad policy and that it was not off limits as he begins negotiations with Obama over key budgetary issues.
As House Speaker, Boehner can prevent any funding for Obamacare or any aspect of it through amendments to funding legislation, to a continuing resolution, or by simply not allowing a floor vote on the funding.
I think there are parts of the health care law that are going to be very difficult to implement and very expensive and, at a time when were trying to find a way to create a path toward a balanced budget, everything has to be on the table, he said in the ABC interview.
When pressed, Boehner clarified that no decision had been made yet over which parts of the law would be included in negotiations, saying that parts of the law could be on the table.
There are certainly maybe parts of it that we believe need to be changed we may do that, no decisions at this point, he said.
Boehner repeated during the interview that he viewed Obamas reelection and Republicans failure to achieve a Senate majority as a mandate from the American public for the two parties to work together, saying that it was simply the hand he was dealt.
I may not like the five cards that were dealt to me but those are the cards Ive got in my hand, he said. Now my job on behalf of the American people is to find a way to work with my Democrat colleagues and our Democrat President to solve Americas problems. If there was one mandate that came out of the election, it was [to] find a way to work together to address our problems.
Boehners office clarified his remarks about repeal of Obamacare on Thursday, after excerpts of the interview were released to the public. His official Twitter account posted a message saying that he remained committed to full repeal of the law.
ObamaCare is the law of the land, but it is raising costs and hurting #smallbiz. Our goal remains #fullrepeal, Boehner tweeted.
Boehner spokesman Kevin Smith also clarified the Speakers intentions on Obamacare, saying that House Republicans were committed to repealing the law despite the reelection of its namesake president.
While Obamacare is the law of the land, it is costing us jobs and threatening our health care, Smith told the liberal website Talking Points Memo. Speaker Boehner and House Republicans remain committed to repealing the law, and he said in the interview it would be on the table.
Obamas reelection has made repeal of the law extremely difficult for Republicans after they failed to secure a Senate majority and a President who would sign repeal legislation. Obama has repeatedly stated that he has no intention of negotiating over the law and Senate Democrats have refused to vote on multiple repeal bills sent to them by the House.
Good luck with that one.
Why does Homeland Security need 1.4 billion rounds of ammunition?
The Department of Homeland Security has purchased 1.4 billion rounds of ammunition- that is not a typo -- during the last six months. This includes 450 million rounds of .40 hollow point, 200 million rounds of .223 rifle ammunition, and 176,000 rounds of .308 168-grain hollow point boat tail (HPBT) that is used almost exclusively as ammo for sniper rifles.

If Boehner were any kind of a leader he would have said, “Obamacare may be the law of the land, but how is he going to fund it?” No $$$ and no more debt!
Even better if he had said something like “Obamacare is the law of the land and unfortunately we are already seeing layoffs and job cuts because of it. By the way, these job cuts include large companies run by supporters of the President.”
The only reason to give an interview with a hack like Sawyer is to just ignore her questions and get your message out. Instead Boehner blubbered on as he was hit with loaded questions. Total fail.
did anyone really think we had 2 distinct political parties?
They voted for him, and sadly, they'll reap what they've sown.
I heard someone say 70 was the cutoff for cancer treatment
how do we know they didn’t vote?
141% showed up in one Florida County, how is that possible?
Obama Voting Machines added and discarded votes as needed to win the election.
Being unconstitutional, Obamacare needs to repealed , struck down, and done away with.

“Now, just take the red pill and lie down, ma’am. It’ll be like going to sleep.”
I can find no information to support this claim. Do you have any more than just that?
I stand corrected.
Well, God’s in control, not the GOP, dem, obama, whoever.
They have their “Homeland Security” we have our “Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines”
Good luck with THAT.
Yeah, We’re screwed, too. But I think the cat and the goldfish deserve free stuff. The cat only likes, besides dry cat food, refried beans. So I think I can get a double for the cat.
The most absurd thing is that Obama actually ran his re-election on “Obamacare.” He said in the debate that he likes the term. Obama didn’t run away from this monstrosity even a little bit. He championed it with a megaphone, and he was re-elected. Elections have consequences. All of these conservative voters who sat out the election are to blame for this. It’s not our idiot Speaker of the House who is at fault.
A sign to look for when hiring is: are there holes in the earlobes? Does the geek have tatoos? An excess of jewelry wrapped around his/her neck?
I clicked into this thread then scrolled down till I found someone who realized that Boehner’s right.
It’s trite to say at times, but elections DO have consequences.
America is evidently okay with Obamacare. It should be implemented and chips should fall where they might.

John Roberts disagrees, and HIS vote counts. /sarc
Boehner. Must. Go.
Always
Going forward I think we need to be realistic. If we aren't going to keep losing elections we need to find out why men don't vote. Women vote in higher numbers than men and they vote in higher numbers for Rats. The Hispanics can be won over in the same way.
My wife doesn't like it when I say "women cried and America died", but she acknowledges it's true. She has a good point though when she asks "why are men such wimps that they don't vote".
The problem is even winning back a majority will not save us. Look at the UK. They have govt run healthcare and what they call conservatives we would think of as moderate-liberal.
Don’t worry, I have no doubt it will be hated when it goes into effect and employers start dumping their employees onto the government exchange.
America apparently has to learn the hard way.
