It appears the America I knew and loved will be a quaint memory.
By whatever means, the forces of the extreme left have undertaken, and apparently succeeded, in performing the coup de grace on a staggering nation.
The causes of their Presidential election-year victory are many. They include:
Demographics helped tip this election. This is another unrelenting trend. Single mothers will not lessen any time soon, and these women tend to view government as a caretaker -- and so they look to Democrats. There is talk in the Republican camp of loosening immigration standards and, probably, amnesty for illegal aliens. Therefore, we will continue to see an inexorable rise in the number of Latinos in America. I say this without judgment, but merely as an observation. However, they vote predominantly Democrat.
And as our students are relentlessly taught morals and values that the extreme left holds dear, the adults who will stand by our side, and eventually replace us, will continue to add to the numbers of the extreme left citizenry.
What can we expect?
I, your humble author, wish I had better news. I wish I had a solution to all this. I don't. Perhaps someone smarter than I can come up with an idea.
I will mention this: The solution must be Gramscian in nature, that would allow us to slowly subvert the forces of Marxism. Gramsci was a Marxist himself, and he came up with the concept of a 'political society' (which rules through force) and a 'civil society' (which rules through consent). The Marxists understood this and realized that the most powerful ideological shifts can only come by the will of the people. The failures of Nazi Germany and the USSR generally show the Marxists that force is a poor substitute for civil will. It should show us the same.
There are those among us I hear speaking of a complete collapse of the US economy as a solution -- a reset button, if you will. Does anyone seriously believe that a government that would follow would be MORE like the America of liberty and free enterprise that we yearn for? Remember, the citizenry (with great voter fraud help) voted Obama back into office after a miserable four-year leftist performance. Even without the voter fraud, there still remains fully half of America that holds the ideals of the left as sacrosanct. We can dismiss the 'reset button' idea as impractical and unlikely to achieve our goals.
Any solution we undertake will be and must be, multi-generational. We will not live to see its fruits. There must be a meeting of great minds to start determining a long term course that will help return our land to the liberty and the love of free enterprise we once had.
I do have some good news. It appears that the left is not choosing to kill its enemies, at least not yet. I hope they continue to remain nonviolent. If they have studied Gramsci well, they probably will remain nonviolent. Political force is ultimately self-defeating.
If that remains the case, we can still pursue our lives. We can raise our children, marry, laugh, love and honor our God, and enjoy and build the best life we can, albeit at a lower standard of living than we have had. I recommend that, while still searching for a solution to these issues, each and every one of you do this very thing. We have no control over the nation, ultimately (though we can impart our small spin) so enjoy your life to the fullest!
Thanks for the final words of hope, Laz, and please put me on your ping list.
As St. Thomas More said, “The times are never so bad that a good man cannot live in them.”
(of course, look what happened to him...)
Valley Forge National Park has them in their store.
Meeting with our local Tea Party tonight. Topic of discussion.. “What’s next?”
What’s “gak”? :o)
I agree, we cannot lose Texas. I also fear that when the democrats start getting too many slots—Texas will cease to be a right-to-work state.
Once the Unions are entrenched then we are too far gone.
This Bush kid must be stopped and we all need to get on a plan quick. We need to find somebody and start backing them NOW.
Jim, you called Romnutz spot on, and I wish to congratulate you on that prediction.
From nasty trail from RomneyCare to ObamaCare is an easily traced path, with RINO droppings covering it all the way to Romney. The Taxachussetts record of abandonment of the Second Amendment and self defense is long and depressing - from Concord/Lexington to state enforced hoplophobia.
BAH! HUMBUGGERY ! !
Speaking of which, it is noteworthy that the Obama Regime is largely composed of queers. From “CakeBoy” and his Man’s Country bath house buddy Rham Emanuel to “Czar Fisting” the Education Czar, Bammy’s Boyz N Gurlz have shown a predilection for perversion on a scale never before seen in American political office.
Paul Johnson was right when he said that if the American experiment in self government fails, that which comes after will be unspeakably worse. The Upspeakably Worse are in office and with their commie and Musloid funding sources full backing ARE ABOUT TO MAKE THEIR MOVE.
Black Urban Ferals, from Bammy to “Saint Martin of the Purple Drank” are so woefully ignorant that they do not understand the first rule of Race War 101 - “Be in the majority”. The same for the “Bronze People” in La Raza.
Unlike some of my distant relatives in another iteration of socialism, under a German government led by someone far different than Angela Merkel, I shall not allow myself to either be disarmed or silenced.
Free Republic is going to prove to be one of the beacons of light in this period of darkness, and shortly it will prove that ignorance is like virginity - once gone, always gone.
As people learn under the relentless instruction of what Kipling called The Gods of the Copy Book Headings, and Christians know as the Four Horsemen, the Constitution will again become familiar to what has degenerated into “Them Asses”. Them Asses will be forced by reality to relearn the lessons condensed into the Founding Documents and the Old/New Testaments and thus they will once again be “The Masses” which were once the American population.
They will learn that decentralized decision making is better than centralized decision making, and that private property is better for them that the collective.
FReepers, I suggest we all contribute to FR so that this invaluable resource grows. The Internet and FR will be today’s Gramsci. Why? Because knowledge and truth beat agenda and lies.
Why is that so? Because reality just is. And because using that reality we built America.
I am not a very educated person and don’t understand quite how all these PACs work but could Rove use all the millions he has collected to back a Bush in Texas elections?
We have GOT to stop that NOW if he can do that. Because he will.
Your post (#53) is a really good overview of what the terrible storm and its aftermath has most likely accomplished and is “right on”. . and also gives some likely glimpse of future events.
Good points.
We need to stop the magical thinking and prepare for what will come.
Well thought out Laz..
So that is where you have been for the last 3 days writing a well thought out editorial.
Thanks so much for posting it.
I have trying to weigh the pro’s and con’s of the “reset” button and you helped me out with some of that.
Long Live our Republic...
RB<><
Not sure where you can purchase one but I struck the colors on the day the Supremes said Obamacare was legal and will not repost until our Republic stands Free from Marxism again... I posted the Gadsen flag in its stead. I only took it down one day and that was for Oct. 2 Come and Take it Day when I posted that flag.
I say “Don’t Tread On Me”... My neighbors seem to agree.
Actually, no. I knocked that one out in 90 minutes in the deepest of night last night. Note the post time.
I have trying to weigh the pros and cons of the reset button and you helped me out with some of that.
I'm glad. I suspect those who would call for pure armed revolution would find the same lack of success should they endeavor thus.
Long Live our Republic...
The Republic is dead, sir. We live in something quite apart from that. Our vote no longer matters. It may not even be tabulated any more. Long Live our Republic...
Yup. The "crowning glory" of TK is the demise of the United States of America, and the birth of the United Socialist States of America.
Some will be mine.
