WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- New revenues "under the right conditions" are acceptable to Republicans as part of a deal to reduce the deficit, House Speaker John Boehner said Wednesday. But Boehner, speaking a day after his party retained its House majority in elections, said revenue should come through growth and reform, not higher tax rates. Bush-era tax cuts are set to expire and automatic spending cuts will kick in next year if Congress doesn't act in the lame-duck session

We need a wartime Speaker!
No problem. I was told that ‘we’ were going to hold feet to fire.
So this is a non issue. The holding will begin anytime now...
A new record!
And this is why America is screwed.
Hasn't even been 24 hours since the close of the election..and he's already bending over..what a good negotiator..
Translation: “Balancing the budget should come through growth and reform, but since we all know that ain’t gonna happen, we’ll vote for any new taxes you like, as long as you give us at least a little pork.”
And it begins.....
Obama received 9 million less votes yesterday than he did in 2008. Somehow, Romney received less votes than McCain in 2008, but Boehner still thinks the narrow Obama victory means it is time to compromise away everything that is left.
Call the House Members, tell them to stand up; there is to be no compromise.
Boehner didn't mention "new taxes". He mentioned "revenue".
He most likely is referring to closing loopholes for revenue which is what Romney was also proposing and what conservatives have wanted for years (to simplify the tax code).
He might have looked at the DJI today and noticed the markets aren’t taking gridlock on the edge of the cliff very well.
The headline is incorrect, it clearly states in the article that tax rates are not going up.
Is he French?
Jim, you were completely right. The GOP has parted from our values. What is our next step?
How can we get rid of this guy? What a disaster. Was he tearing up while saying it? GOP gets a moderate squish as their speaker while the Dems get rabid leftist Nancy.
dropp’in his pants and grabb’in his ankles already
It’s politicians like we have today that make me wish caning was still in vogue.
For constituents.
MELT THE SWITCHBOARDS, MELT THE SWITCHBOARDS, FIRE BOEHNER NOW!!!
