Mitt didn’t have a chance. Here’s what’s really happening.

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, followed always by a dictatorship. The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations has been 200 years.”
~ Alexander Fraser Tytler, Scottish-born British lawyer and writer, 1747 - 1813.

tIt can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury.

Maybe we have arrived at the point where that circumstance is taking effect. I'd really like to see a politically incorrect stat: what percentage of the Dims female support is from single moms on welfare?

There is much talk about Obama's and the Dims gender gap advantage, and analysts nibble around the edges and talk about soccer moms, etc.

But how much of their female support is from single moms on welfare voting to keep the welfare coming?

If Mitt had run on his real first name he may have had a chance. He needed to win 60% of the male vote overall to win. To do that he had to prove he was a forceful leader.
He’s Dole redux, shoved down our throats by apparatchiks in the party into the vacuum caused by the (temporary) crippling of Sarah Palin.

correct. mitt lost because the dems can put together a coalition of parasites, corruption and ignorance that outnumber the people left in this country that still care about the constitution, liberty and self determination. start with 20 million illegal immigrants and their supporters, add the welfare/food stamp crowd and those that have no sense of history or what used to make this country exceptional and toss in corrupt politicians, bureaucrats and special interest groups and then do the math

That’s about the best description I have ever read. Exactly what has happened.

Exactly. That is why that quote is my tag line. The people find they can simply take from others through legislative means and once virtues like self-sufficiency are eroded by the Welfare State, there is nothing to stop the masses from living the good life off someone else’s dime legally.

Yep. All historians know that once the people can vote themselves money from the treasury, read: welfare, the country is doomed. Nothing in our Constitution allows for taxing one person to give their wealth to another. This nation was built on “No taxation without representation!”, yet, we have it. We are doomed and nothing can save us from that fate.

Mitt didn’t have a chance.

"chance" had nothing to do with it. A mildly aggressive ham sandwich had an excellent opportunity against Obamugabe and this economy.

The 47% plus the 3% of rich guilty libs. We’re doomed.

You're absolutely right too. In today's political and social economic climate, Reagan couldn't have won either. The voting demographics have changed so much since Reagan that in order for a Republican to win again, he is going to have to embrace much of the leftist philosophies that we vehemently oppose.

That's just the way it is.......

Does anyone think someone like Newt could have won? I think so.

Tytler was sloppy. I’d say Britain has a great civilization, and it’s been around for more than 200 years. But from the 12th(?) Century, when William The Conqueror came ashore and beat the Saxons into submission, mixing Norman French with Saxon German and other elements to make the English language, there were long periods of turbulence, such as the War of the Roses, the Puritan Revolution, the Restoration, etc. In all these periods, there was agriculture and commerce, and settled towns, villages and cities, all the trappings of civilization, and at some point, it became “great” and stayed that way, despite all the turbulence. Shakespeare wrote his plays. Queen Elizabeth fought off an Armada. The Magna Carta defined rights vs. a sovereign’s previously absolute powers. Philosophers philosophized. Poets rhymed.

It’s still here, but no longer “great”. But not because of voters voting themselves largesse. They were doing that during the “finest hour,” too.

Britain stopped being great when it started apologizing for being itself. When it felt guilty for its empire and all the dastardly things that imperial powers do, and started atoning for its sins with self-imolation, allowing itself to be invaded by its former colonies’ present inhabitants. It meant to apologize, to make up for the past. But the former colonists are more interested in taking whatever they could, and imposing their insane oppressive belief system on everyone. Whatever Britain used to do to others, is being done to it now. Not because their enemies are more numerous, technologically superior, or have more clever generals. Britain is going under because it doesn’t believe in itself anymore, and so doesn’t want to fight for its values, and the Islamofascists do. The same with the rest of Eurabia. The same with America, although it’s not as far along yet.
