You see, the Bereans didn't take Paul only at his word; they searched the "scriptures" -- the Old Testament for them -- to see if it reinforced/matched his teachings.

But why do some CONSERVATIVEs on FR go all MEGO on us when SCRIPTURE is posted? Dismissing it with an imperial wave of the hand?

Good Q...and well-framed.

I know it's a rhetorical Q, but I'll add my thoughts.

I can't speak to specific motivations of any given FReeper; but generically I think people are relativistic & don't want the Bible as their applicable Guide in life.

To wave it off as authoritative to their life, they need to assume self-authority over it.
