Obama on Bruce Springsteen: ‘I Know He Can Afford’ to Pay More Taxes By Fred Lucas November 5, 2012

(CNSNews.com) – President Barack Obama told a campaign rally in Madison, Wis., that music icon Bruce Springsteen can afford to pay more in taxes.

Springsteen opened the rally for the president, who is seeking to shore up votes in the battleground state of Wisconsin the day before the presidential election.

“If we’re serious about the deficit, we can’t just cut our way to prosperity,” Obama said. “We’ve also got to ask the wealthiest Americans to go back to the tax rates they paid when Bill Clinton was in office. And by the way, we can afford it. I haven’t talked to Bruce, but I know he can afford it. I can afford it. Mr. Romney, he can afford it. Because our budget reflects our values, and it’s a reflection of our priorities.”

You had 4 years, 2 with a Democrat Congress. I guess it wasn’t a priority.

"Bruce Springsteen pays over $138,000 a year in taxes for his three-acre home in Colts Neck, New Jersey. He owns another 200 adjoining acres. But because he has a part-time farmer come and grow a few tomatoes (organic, of course) and has horses, his tax bill on the remaining 200 acres is just $4,639 bucks. Do the math. By being a fake farmer, the working-class zero Springsteen is making a mint by robbing New Jersey of the antipoverty program funds he says they desperately need."

"“If we’re serious about the deficit, we can’t just cut our way to prosperity,”...

Obviously we can't spend our way to it... even without involving the contributions of the "rich"... which is what you did from 2009-2012.

So the new plan is to keep spending even more, but to do so by taking money away from the current taxpayers instead of just the taxpayers from 2020 and beyond. Yeah, that'll work.

Hey, Bozo, we don’t care if you raise taxes on Springsteen and Longoria and all of these libtards in Hollywood and the music business. THEY DON’T CREATE JOBS outside of makeup artists.

It’s the small businesses that you’re killing with these taxes. Springsteen might be able to afford it, but our private sector can’t. Apples and oranges.

Please, God, let us be rid of TOTUS forever tomorrow.

Mr. President, I know we can’t afford to have you spend one more day in office…

George Lucas just donated the entire 4+ billion he made (from sale of Lucas Films) to his charitable foundation for education. This means he pays ZERO capital gains taxes on that 4 billion. This means he thinks his foundation can do a better job with his money than the Feds will

Warren Buffet does the same, each year he donates the bulk of his income to the Bill&Melinda Gates Foundation. He also stiffs the US Treasury (IRS)

Why? Because he’s white? I don’t hear Bambi saying that about any of his rap “artist” buddies, who probably make more than Springsteen.

That said, I read somewhere that even one of his black rap buds announced that he wasn’t voting for Bambi because he didn’t want his taxes to go up!

In any case, it was a dumb thing to say. Is Obama tone-deaf, stupid, crazy or all three?

perfect point.

here in Missouri, the tax rates on your real property are as follows:

Commercial real estate is taxed at 32%
Residental real estate is taxed at 19%
Agricultural real estate is taxed at 12%

Hmmm, I am gonna get me a goat to cut the lawn. Green and lowers my taxes too!

he never seems to be required to tell us what all of this additional “revenue” that he plans on extracting from us will be spent on . . . .

"‘I Know He Can Afford’ to Pay More Taxes"

Well, I can't. I also can't afford to pay someone that could help me to not pay more taxes (unlike you, and bubba, and bruce).

Which means people like me are the target.

Right?

Because our budget reflects our values, and it’s a reflection of our priorities.

Agreed. And, since it's been YEARS since the last budget, it's fair to say you have no values and no priorities.

“I guess it wasn’t a priority.”

Well, we know his priority was zerocare — look at all the hidden taxes and/or fees in that boondoggle.

It’s not enough. They can’t get enough.

Then why doesn’t he? Instead he claims a “farming” tax exemption on his estate. Real hero of the working class, eh, Bruce?
