President Obama — who has battled accusations that he is insufficiently committed to the U.S. relationship with Israel — locks down the endorsement of that country's left-of center newspaper.
In an editorial, the paper calls Obama "good for Israel" and writes:

This is as surprising as the NYT endorsing Obama.
As long as you don’t rub shoulders with Israelis in the IDF, you can believe that this endorsement is what the Israelis think. This type of endorsement is for those Israelis who think they have to think and act like they’re in NYC, not that they are the nation Zionist founded with no one’s approval for a homeland for people who had survived the Holocaust and the indifference of Europe and the US.
In reading about the pre-Nazi days in Europe, I have come up with a theory about why so many Jews vote Democrat (socialist).
Before WWII, many of the Jewish academics were socialist and communists, but not statist communist or socialists (at least they didn’t admit to it). They thought that communism or socialism was empowering the people, not shackling them to work for the State. They didn’t foresee the problems with rule by an elitist cadre, bent on securing power for themselves and exploiting the workers.
Jews still see these communist/socialists academics as rebels against the State and the goals of an egalitarian society as represented by the Democrat Party. They don’t delve any deeper than that, the academics are always the smartest people in the room.

Just as American leftists wish for the destruction of this country, Israeli leftists wish for the destruction of Israel.
Let them go live with their neighbors in the surrounding countries, all of whom wake up in the morning and the first thing they think is “I hate Israel.”
The Israeli left has pretended (believed in the myth), since before statehood, that there were substantial numbers of Arabs and Arab Muslims - in “Palestine”, who would join them in a democratic totally sectarian socialist Utopia; a myth the facts have refuted ever since. Yet still they believe their myth and refusing to accept facts they blame their own fellow countrymen instead.
85% of Americans in Israel disagee. And I’m sure that at least 1/3 of the 15% for Obama are Arabs.
