Why Romney Will Win Ohio [For those like me "concerned" about Rasmussen poll]
national review ^ | 11/1/12 | Kevin Holtsberry

In my previous posts I laid out why and how I think Mitt Romney positioned himself to win Ohio. He provided voters with a clear rational for why he was running, reassured them that voting for him was not a risk, and — with help from President Obama — unified the conservative base without having to give up appeals to the center...I don’t have the chops of Josh Jordan, Sean Trende, or Dan McLaughlin, so I won’t attempt to repeat their careful analysis of the polling and its history. But they all agree it comes down to a basic question. Do you believe Democratic turnout will match or exceed 2008?

If you think it will, it seems likely that the president will eke out a victory by winning Ohio and other key states. If you think turnout is more likely to land somewhere between 2008 (D+5) and 2010 (R+4) then Romney is likely to win Ohio and the presidency.

I have not heard any compelling argument for Democratic turnout to match let along exceed 2008. Bush fatigue, Obama as the light bringer, the first black president, McCain’s bizarre suspension of his campaign — all of the momentum and excitement was on the side of the Democrats in 2008.

This year we have a still-stagnant economy, foreign policy in flames, deeply unpopular Obamacare, religious leaders furious at the president, Obama abandoning the center and no longer viewed as the political messiah he was thought to be, plus a Republican candidate who has plenty of money, a unified party, and a high-tech and engaged ground game.

Everything that Liberals believe about the Tea Party actually applies to Occupy Wall St. (hateful and violent, which leads to lawlessness). And everything that Liberals believe about Occupy Wall St. actually applies to the Tea Party (a legitimate grassroots movement that is methodically making it’s presence felt on the political landscape).

This utter disconnection from reality on the part of Liberals is one of the main reasons that I belive that Romney will win.

Why? Because while many Independent voters may have been brainwashed into believing that the Tea Party is extreme, there are not only plenty of Independents who are part of the Tea Party movement, but there are also plenty of others who are disillusioned with Obama for many of the same reasons as the Tea Party, even if they’re uninformed about the Tea Party.

Meanwhile, Liberals are living in a Bizarro world, in which not only are Tea Partiers lynching Blacks and burning crosses on people’s lawns, but Obama is loved by everyone (except the Tea Party Klansmen) and has the election in the bag.

Tortoise and the hare, anyone?

That’s a great idea, but all the good ideas like literacy tests or property ownership were ruled out long ago.

We can’t even do citizenship tests or residency tests in order to prevent illegal voting.

Yes, I know in a perfect world, there would be no Democrats.

Then that would seem to be a misleading number, given that the Dems haven’t had a headliner primary since 2008?

Still, I don’t believe they’ll equal or exceed their 2008 percentage unless they’ve got significantly better at cheating.

I agree. The number can't be very reliable since we can decide what ballot we want and change our party affiliation on the spot.

However, I think a large percentage of the electorate are ignorant of their ability to do this. They unwittingly "tell the truth" when asked of their party by the poll worker.

I'm counting on a skew in the other direction because of the sheer number of first-time registrations that came about to elect Obama. The D number might, imo, be puffed up due to the hype in 2008. Those folks may have since receded back into the apathy they had before their savior arrived.

In any case, the D+ or R+ calculations coming from Ohio seem completely unreliable to me.

Another thing that has me unhinged, have not heard Morris touting the rout lately either.

As of today, Morris is still predicting a Romney landslide.

Ann was in Columbus, OH yesterday. They collected food and water for the Sandy victims at the door.

The polling orgs and media have their fingers in the dike. They are trying to mislead and suppress. I will not be fooled by them or the concern trolls. The deluge is coming. I can feel it.
