Residents of Manhattan's 19-building, 1,191-apartment Jacob Riis projects, have been without power and water since late Monday evening, and there's been no sign of help from local government.
In all, city officials estimate some 49,000 public housing residents have been stranded by the storm, left without the resources to escape or find alternative lodging.
When Getty photographer Mario Tama ventured inside, he found residents huddled in living rooms lit by solitary candles and gas stoves running constantly for heat.

The Jacob Riis project is located on farmost edge of the East Village, between Avenue D and the Franklin D Roosevelt Drive and covering seven blocks between 6th and 13 street. Each of the 19 buildings is between six and 14 stories high.

Since those in "public housing" are mooching off other people anyway why should anyone give a sh!t if they have power, food, etc. or not? If they weren't wothless to start with they wouldn't be in public housing (and getting food stamps etc.) I hope that they're the very last to get anything.
You really think that any president could help 49K people in a couple days after this happened? How many people and time do you think it would take just to visit each one of those apartments, assess the situation, come up with a plan and arrange proper logistics support?

Isn’t that what the Marxist d’rats want for all of us, to be crowded into large cities so we can be totally dependent on government for basic survival?
I truly feel sorry for the people there, but being crammed in cages (public housing) in a zoo (NYC) is there own choice.
I wonder if Zero is building his ‘martial law’ scenario to occur before Tuesday. He’s probably hoping for civil unrest.
The opportunity for them to see they are throwing their lives away by living on government assistance, that they will never live up to their full potential and God given talent. Government dependency will rob you of your soul.
So what if there is no power, food or water. Barry pre positioned the assets so they got that going for them. Also even though they have no vehicles or transportation if they leave now and walk to the site of the marathoner they can witness some entertainment. Hopefully that will help them to forget how cold and hungry thy are.
