I've been struck over the past few days over the extent to which statements from Defense Department officials, whether on the record or on background, have holes in their logic so wide that one could drive a truck through them. Take, for example, this quote from a 'senior defense official' on Foxnews.com this morning:"While some may think that armed drones could have made a difference in Benghazi, that's altogether unclear," a senior defense official tells Fox News. "You need good intelligence to drive the use of armed drones. It's not like you can just send hellfire missiles into a relatively crowded area when you don't know precisely where the enemy is."
Gee, if only there had been, say, a former Navy SEAL on the roof of the building under attack, using a laser range finder to communicate to higher headquarters precise map coordinates (which, if he had standard-issue gear, would be accurate to within one meter) of the enemy positions! And even if that had not been the case, there is always the option of using fixed wing jets to perform what is called a 'show of force:' a low-altitude high-speed pass meant to intimidate the enemy and indicate the presence of American airpower over the battlefield. Due to tight rules of engagement, this tactic is employed virtually every single day in Afghanistan (and likely much more frequently than that.)
At the very damn least!
Our SEALs, Delta Force and other special forces would have been chomping at the bit to go into Panetta’s ‘risky’ situation. After all, it was just a band of protesters upset about a YouTube video, right?

An AC130 Spectre gunship could’ve attacked, and with precision.. I don’t know about altitude and vulnerability to getting shot down, however.
It’s not a laser range finder...that’s cheap civilian equipment. It’s a laser designator, and the operators only use that when they know they have an assett nearby that can take advantage of it...meaning carrying a weapon that can home in on the laser targeting.
That’s the damning part of the info we are getting. If Ty Woods was actively lasing a target, and we are told that it was the mortar team that was targeting him and ultimately killed him, then he was only doing that because he knew there was an aircaft on scene that could take down the target. But it didn’t, so someone had to order that aircraft not to fire.

Here is another point. These "security guards" or now as we know CIA contractors, were told to stand down. But apparently no one in the CIA told them to stand down. That was Petraeus way to tell the world the CIA was not involved in this operation. Furthermore, either Petraeous bold faced lied to Congress, or he was given faulty intell when he testified to congress this was mob over the video. Given the Langley's subsequent statements that they were not aware of request for help from "CIA contractors", I favor the latter.
So who were these guys reporting to? Who hired them? This stinks of a clandestine operation reporting right into the White House. Government within the Government.
I guess Panetta is unfamiliar with the Marine’s warfighting doctrines. Politician he is.
I have read that the “annex” was set up to train Libyans, like we train military in Afghanistan and that the house, a mile away was simply cover for the CIA operation, that must have been a Black ops operation.
That would account for the disconnect between Woods and the CIA controlled drone. It sounds as though Woods assumed that the drone was armed and was there in response to his call for help.
They took out a 16 year old American citizen in Yemen as “ollateral damage” but couldn’t take out a painted mortar position beause of the risk of ollateral damage? These people are FOS.
Disasterassistance.gov.......that is the web site Obama just gave to people needing help from the hurricane. There is the problem......the seals in Benghazi were trying to contact the State Department. Who knew......

Someone get this to the Pentagon press corps so they can nail Panetta with it.
Aside from pictures of burned out and looted buildings, has anyone seen evidence of a firefight?
The GLTD can function in several ways:
1. continuous painting for a munition that is terminally guided via laser
2. acquisition of GPS coordinates of a nearby place chosen by the operator —he paints the target to record and later transfer the GPS coordinates
3. faking out an enemy believed capable of detecting their own illumination. This is to cause them to flee, or to stop some form of activity
So you see for Woods to have been painting a target does not necessarily mean there had to have been an armed platform orbiting above. It would make it LIKELY, but not certain. It is possible he was faking them out or had the intent to forward the GPS coordinates to a platform that was nearby, due to arrive, or SAID to be due to arrive.
Obama, Hillay, Panetta, Patreaus, Charlen Lamb et al have BLOOD OIN THEIR HANDS...BLOOD and LOTS OF IT!! LIARS ALL!!
Were you aware that a guy from BlackFive called into Rush’s program and explained why Woods was using the laser ..?? I was stunned when he explained that it was because he either knew there was air power about to show up .. or he believed the drone was weaponized.
Of course, neither was true. This act by our govt is just pure evil.
