Yep, that’s what I’m reading now... between 80 and 100 homes destroyed just in that area... Frightening to try and comprehend that alone - besides all of the other damage to various areas, and landmarks, and such all along the coast, and even inland in some areas. Just devastating... My heart goes out to everyone because even if your home was unaffected every other aspect of life in the city, and especially in New Jersey is definitely not...

Lots of retirees there...hope all got out safely.

It was a nightmare scenario...folks in a high rise apt. building isolated by water, next to a burning building tossing embers onto their roof!

Many retired FDNY and NYPD live there.

God be with them all, and all those who lost their homes and belongings.

This is bigger than Katrina.

Let’s see how good Obama does...after all his criticism of Bush.
