Heard something on that feed about needing to evacuate 150 apartments from a 13-story apartment building.

There was a rumor reported earlier that the NYSE was under 3’ of water but that is apparently not true. Still, the subways are in deep trouble, lots of flooding on them and the PATH train lines. Bad street flooding all over lower Manhattan and along the river on both sides including Jersey City and Hoboken.

The tide at Battery Park peaked just shy of 14 feet, several feet higher than any previous reading. The combination of the size of the storm, the landfall position, the full moon, and the time (high tide was about 8 pm in the harbor) is really a worst-case scenario for NYC.

My God... And some Freepers were joking about this storm all last night.

Hey GeronL, do you hear this? You think it's all "hype" now? Firefighters are risking (and likely losing) their lives to rescue their fellow citizens! Got any good jokes to ease the pain?
