Hurricane Sandy From Space
NASA
Just in case you thought the Hurricane hype couldn't get any louder, check out this dispatch from Weather Channel meterologist Stu Ostro:
- History is being written as an extreme weather event continues to unfold, one which will occupy a place in the annals of weather history as one of the most extraordinary to have affected the United States.
- REGARDLESS OF WHAT THE OFFICIAL DESIGNATION IS NOW OR AT/AFTER LANDFALL -- HURRICANE (INCLUDING IF "ONLY" A CATEGORY ONE), TROPICAL STORM, POST-TROPICAL, EXTRATROPICAL, WHATEVER -- OR WHAT TYPE OF WARNINGS ARE ISSUED BY THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE AND NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER -- PEOPLE IN THE PATH OF THIS STORM NEED TO HEED THE THREAT IT POSES WITH UTMOST URGENCY...
- With Sandy having already brought severe impacts to the Caribbean Islands and a portion of the Bahamas, and severe erosion to some beaches on the east coast of Florida, it is now poised to strike the northeast United States with a combination of track, size, structure and strength that is unprecedented in the known historical record there...
- A meteorologically mind-boggling combination of ingredients is coming together:

20 yrs ago, WC was pretty good.
Now it’s a division of PMSNBC used to “validate and propagate” climate change theory.
It’s a CAT1 hurricane.
Is this guy a credible meteorologist or just some guy attention whoring for ratings?
Most of the links I wanted to look at on www.weather.com are down. I guess too many people want to look at them, too. And I am directly in the affected area, good ol’ NYC.
Obama should have appointed Ray Nagin as head of FEMA.

Does space make me look fat?
I’d walk through a combination Category 5 huuricane/tornado/earthquake/air raid to vote for Mitt Romney and get rid of Barack Obama.
The Globull Warmers at the WC dream of storms like this. “All the old people who don’t get their weather info from the Internet are watching us 24/7.” They have to hype it for a ratings bump.
CAT1 refers only to windspeed. Any hurricane force winds are serious, but CAT 1 is mild, when it comes to windspeeds.
The problem is water.
Sandy has the lowest barometric pressure EVER, at this latitude (how far north).
It is one of, or possibly THE largest (area) storms ever.
That means it's moving A LOT of water.
60+ MPH winds over a 500 mile stretch of coastline.
The destructive potential of Sandy (they put a number on it) is higher than Katrina.
75mph winds is barely technically a hurricane
No, not fat at all, but you only have one eye ! !
We’ve never heard of mandatory evac of the Jersey Shore- have had family there since before the ‘thirties.
NYers do respect weather. Everyone I’ve spoken with today is getting ready for this thing. Liberals sounding like preppers; they’ve been through some of these. The Ice Storm ‘78 (the dogs were shivering by the time the lights went back on - I think it was 2 weeks of freezing temps).
Have a sister named after a hurricaine. She’s spoiled with a generator in Conn. hoping she doesn’t have to resort to firewood, it’ll mean no running water.
Beaches are already flooding in NJ. From AC to Barnegat all able bodied sons were out today “battening down hatches”; otherwise deserted.
People are frickin’ nuts. I just found out that my daughter’s school is closed tomorrow. I live just west of Harrisburg, PA. They are calling for, OMG, 2-inches of rain and 25-40 mph winds.
Reminds me of the story of the boy who cried wolf. One day we won’t listen to these idiots.
Take precautions if you are anywhere in the zone. If there is a hurricane coming toward me, I go into automatic prep then whatever happens, happens, but I'm ready.
