President Barack Obama has cancelled his rally that was scheduled for Tuesday morning in Colorado Springs to monitor Hurricane Sandy, according to a White House press release.
Obama will return to Washington to continue to monitor the hurricane following a campaign event in Ohio on Monday. A campaign event that was scheduled in Northern Virginia on Monday was also cancelled because of the storm.
According to a statement made by the White House Saturday night, The President is being regularly updated on the storm and ongoing preparations, and he has directed his team to continue to bring all available resources to bear as state and local partners continue to prepare for the storm.
The press release said that FEMA has deployed teams and has pre-staged resources to potentially affected areas of the storm.
The rally that was scheduled in Colorado Springs Red Rock Canyon Open Space park on Tuesday was meant to focus on issues such as the economy and early voting, according to a campaign spokesperson.
Great way of pulling up stakes in a state you have no hope of winning.
Didn’t Obama monitor Benghazi too?
Just as well they found an excuse.
Colorado Springs and El Paso County are deep Red - the GOP bastion of CO.
Why a Democratic President would even schedule time bothering to campaign there is mystery only known to Obama Campaign staffers.
Hiding in the basement probably.
How many drones will he send to do this?
Monitor, as in monitoring the terrorist attack in Libya, refusing a military response, going to bed, allowing Americans to die, and flying to Vegas for fundraising? Coward-monitoring.
Maybe he can call in a drone strike and kill Sandy.
My my! What a “coincidence” that he cancels events in CO and VA, just as they slip away for good from him
Hmmm.... Yes.. it was Hurricane Sandy that made him cancel the visit in Colorado...
Mark my words, NC, FL, CO and VA have been written off by the President’s team
It is now defending OH, WI, IA and NH. That is their firewall.
The President has to sweep all four of them. The Governor on the other hand can any three of them or just OH
In addition, I truly believe MI will be the shock of the night.
PA, MN, OR stand out as possibilities if the Governor reaches the 53% mark nationally
Obama knows he is toast!!! He is not interested in campaigning....he just wants to play POTUS, fly around in his “personal” Jet aircraft, hang out with Letterman, Leno, the View gals, MTV, etc. The last thing in the world he wants to do or be is the “real” POTUS. End of story!!!
it took 4 years for him to let “doing is job” get in the way of a campaign event?
LOL! Do you think any one in COS is going to vote for Obama?
Romney would have the same luck campaigning in Boulder or Pueblo here.
He probably doesn't want people to contrast the huge Red Rock rally for Romney with the lesser crowd he would probably attract.
no one was coming and it would have been contrasted poorly with Romneys HUGE GIGANTIC crowds at the same forum
Exactly. The photographic comparisons would have humiliated the narcissist.
No, he got a good night’s sleep and went to Vegas the next day.
