What would you think if you were told that the most bigoted, intolerant, hateful, and xenophobic political messages this election cycle are being spread by Obama supporters?
From ridiculing and disrespecting the Mormon religion to spreading secretly taped videos recorded by an Obama supporter in a Mormon church, those on the left are sanctioning this particular form of bigotry because its all for the cause: Obama.
Nowhere is this more obvious than in the media, where pages upon pages have been devoted to Romneys religion. Vicious, anti-Mormon rhetoric, ramping up in the final days leading up to the election, has been spread by MSNBC and CNN hosts, the New York Times (they have devoted an entire section of their website to articles about Mormonism), Washington Post, and the Daily Beasts Andrew Sullivan, to name a few. Yesterday, Breitbarts John Nolte revealed that Gloria Allreds October surprise client is spreading anti-Mormon hate around the Internet.
In one recent segment, which I took notes on right after the Tampa convention, Rachel Maddow, having attacked the religion in various ways and perhaps sensing her own intolerance, offhandedly remarked that everything she had said was ok because Romney mentioned his faith in his convention speech, rendering it fair game.
A quick perusal of the search results for Mormon on Salon.com, which resulted in 5 pages of results, reveals such headlines as Is Mormon underwear magic, What we should ask Romney about Mormonism, and Ann: Mormon missions are just like military service!

Your point? You seemingly condemn critics of cults (Lds).
So...somebody who's negative about the Lds church draws your negativity in response.
The former "negative" apparently is -- to you -- taboo...but your religious negativity and intolerance of some religious critics is A-OK, eh???
Sounds like a typical liberal multi-cultural double-standard.
Let me guess: You went to a state high school and/or a secular college...where you were taught this double-standard...and accepted it...without critical eval.
You need to get away from being concerned about your “Precious Bodily Fluids” and relax enough to learn more from facts posted on these threads.
You made the claim and the challenge, tell me which denomination yours is and I will see if I have it's teaching on Mormonism.
By the way, in a simple, honest exchange, why did you throw in "and their members?" ?
Lol. Here’s another of Nathanael’s sites for you, and one of the Antimormons:
http://www.realzionistnews.com/
http://www.stopthemormons.com/
Iow...you’re intolerant toward my religious views...and therefore are “bigoted” toward them...go ahead...just say it...per your own standard...
Is questioning intolerance - intolerance? Is showing a bigots own bigotry - bigotry?
If you feel I am an "elitist", I say you have the right to your own opinion - it does not affect mine. Your reaction tells me all I need to know.
By all means, vote for Obama and be done with the Mormon! (I tried to copy ansell2, but he/she does not register on auto-preview)
I guess you are doing the best you can, but really, try to grow up a little bit.
No dear, YOU made the claim.
By the way, in a simple, honest exchange, why did you throw in "and their members?" ?
Because "Church" is a word for a gathering of people. It is not a religion or a building, but a body. You claim such religious knowledge, yet lack understanding of "church"?

(Voting for Virgil Goode)
You mean watch out so the Mormons don’t steal my soul?
You made this claim about YOUR church. That your church doesn’t have a position on Mormonism, I can’t respond until I know which church that is.
“”And you have throughly studied and been a member of ALL Christian denominations to such an extent that you speak for them and their members? Funny that. I don’t remember such bigotry in the ranks of my church - maybe you missed one.””
By the way, can you tone down the hostility some? I looked at some of your posts and realized that I made a terrible mistake using the Catholic teaching when trying to tell you about Mormon doctrine, but it was only an example, since all major churches are on the same page on Mormonism they are pretty interchangeable.
KC + ALL: This is purely classic in response...Apparently this poster, realizing that they don't want to self-accuse -- be guilty of the same thing they are labeling others for -- tries to do a "rewind" and soften their earlier vocab.
The prob, is, KC, that your phrase from post #33 still stands...which btw, was a rhetorical Q...not a seeming genuine one:
"Dont Catholics HATE the bigotry shown them by those who lack understanding?" [KittenClaws, post #33]
So...after climbing out on the limb and essentially encouraging Catholics (& others) that it's a-ok to "Hate" those "id'd" by the self-appointed "bigot patrol" (post #33)...
...it then becomes softened by KC as mere "questioning" and "showing"...in the last post...which, actually, in my opinion, is fair to do...
But what you'll find among the religious hypocrites on FR is that when they perceive religious intolerance
-- what they deem as "bigotry" --
--'tis a-OK to encourage Catholics -- and Mormons -- and others ...
...to "hate" those posters and what is posted.
Yet, when critics of Mormon "question" Mormonism...when they "show" how Lds have misjudged Christians and Christianity...that isn't deemed as "questioning" and "showing..."
Nope...that...to the religious hypocrites...is deemed, accusatory-style, as "hateful bigotry..."
This is the classic Questioning and showing for me and thine self-portrait but "hateful bigotry" for you and yours when painting others.
(Tell us again where you get a "religious license" to critique in a "questioning" and "showing" manner...that is "acceptable" to the self-appointed "bigot patrol")
Muslims don’t tolerate any dissent.
Virgil Goode is good for the conscience - talk about elitist! You can feel good about yourself and your own ideals and let the country fall to $hit because Romney does not meet a religious standard.
I can dig it.
I didn't answer this one:
Let me guess: You went to a state high school and/or a secular college...where you were taught this double-standard...and accepted it...without critical eval.
You got me wrong. My evaluation is just different than yours. Why should I judge Mormons? Regardless of their beliefs in Jesus Christ or God, they are a moral people. Good enough for a president - bad for a pope. But I'm not voting for a pope.
If Romney were catholic, baptist, amish, methodist, quaker -even a moral atheist, I would be fine with him.
His stance on abortion and immigration does not agree with mine. I vote Romney because by all accounts and appearance, he loves this country and I vote my country. Romney is not first choice, but he is the choice.
Bashing a moral person because of his religion or lack thereof would be true bigotry.
And as for the double standard? It applies to my personal life alone. I do not apply it to politics.
That’s exactly what the Catholic Church said of Protestantism back when it was new. Mormonism is a distinct branch of Christianity. The biased opinions of other churches doesn’t change the fact that we are Christian, and nobody is an expert in in any religion simply by virtue of where they live.
Christ taught that by their fruits ye shall know them. You look at the lives of good faithful Mormons, and you see the fruit of Christ.
And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God. MRK 10:18
The LORD looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God. All have turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one. Psalm 14:2-3
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one. Romans 3:10
.....But evidently Mormons think they are. That is too bad.
LOL, slippery effort there.
Christianity us of one voice when it comes to Mormonism, it is an entirely different religion, a non-Christian religion made up by Joseph Smith.
“Post 21 provides Catholic teachings concerning the Mormon faith. Which inadvertently makes my point.
Look at it this way. Dont Catholics hate the bigotry shown them by those who lack understanding?
To make my point. The Nicene Creed of the Catholic Church states that they are the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. But my childhood faith taught me otherwise.
The faith of my childhood did not understand praying to saints, sprinkling instead of immersion, confession to a priest rather than to Christ in prayer and a priest offering absolution, which is Christs alone to give - heresy! The joke was: a Catholic can do anything on Saturday night because come Sunday, a man will forgive him.
I hold no condemnation for the Catholic faith or the Mormon faith. I did not say what I said to be ugly, but to point out that Catholics have no room to critisize what they do not understand, while asking people to understand them.
The Catholic Church has its own teachings, which I respect and admire, though the Church of my childhood believes that praying to Saints is not Christian, because Jesus said the only way to the Father is through Me.
My point? Not to condemn the Catholic Church at all - nor the Mormon Church.”
I am not a Catholic, but Catholics do not believe that Jesus is not god, that he did not suffer for our sins on the cross but suffered for them in the garden instead, that the virgin Mary had physical sex with God the Father, that Indians are just Jews who were cursed by God to be dark, that there are Mormons living on the surface of the moon and on the sun (both Smith and Brigham Young made this claim), that people can get into the highest Celestial heaven with handshakes and secret passwords stolen from the Free Masons.
Oh, and the LDS apparently even have their own secret police who investigate Mormons, follow “anti-Mormons” around, and their own “Egyptologists” who find ways to read Abraham or other Mormon claims into random papyri in ways that have nothing whatever to do with reality.
