No candidate is going to release any personal info that has even the slightest chance of being controversial so close to an election. So Obama has an out (and so does Trump). If Trump had made a similar offer months ago, it might have it might have become a major issue. It still could if Romney releases his college records and Obama refuses.

It's a bit of a letdown for me. But, there are a lot of organizations that need money. This could encourage people to write letters to news papers, call lib talk shows (if there are any), and call the White House to beg Barry to take Trump up on his offer. I agree. Trump is not as big of an idiot as this makes him appear. Trump is a great promoter, and this is not even that. It looks like a last minute "plan B". My guess is that trump had some mud to sling and Mitt Romney called him off. Mitt most likely felt that slinging nasty mud this late in the game would look desperate and un-presidential, and most likely backfire. If the Romney campaign (via Trump) appears to be out to personally embarrass our first Black president then Romney becomes evil and racist(again) and the beaten down Obama gains sympathy votes and can rally Black solidarity against his attackers.

I believe Mitt is "leader" enough to call off Trump's attack while Obama is currently melting over Libya and needs a distraction like a pissing contest with an easy to lampoon ("the Donald")Trump.
