Murdered and anally raped...they didn't just die. Death after fighting for seven hours. And there was backup available - within hours - all over the place - NO ONE gave the word. What were they thinking. Did Obama have a way these deaths would help with his election?
I've seen a number of theories as to why help was not ordered sent. Most prominent/logical to my mind are:
1. Dude feared a Carteresque Eagle Claw Moment right before the election and wouldn't give the authorization for cover and/or an extraction team because he was afraid of the "optics" of a failed mission.
2. Dude hoped Stevens would (or arranged for him) to be kidnapped, so as to either play the hero later, or barter the release of the Blind Sheik for Stevens'.
3. There has been some epically diabolical stuff going down and Stevens was in the middle of it, and things either went horribly wrong, or Stevens was silenced.
4. Jarrett said "no." (Why not? She did it on Bin Laden three times!)
