Minnesota is like Oregon - winnable in a blowout but won’t provide the margin of victory. It’s another indication of the close race in Iowa and Wisconsin, both of which Romney can win.

I mean, why are the dems suppose to panic?

Nate (never ever wrong) Silver has this race as safe for Obama with Obama having a 98% chance of winning it. This poll shows Obama lead down to the same percentages the swing polls have. It indicates two things. One is this state is no longer safe and Obama will have to divert money and attention. Second is it indicates there may be a wave of support from Obama to Romney that is building as the election day approaches.

Since then, Nat’s revised that down to 67%. I think I saw that on NRO.

I’m in Minneapolis. I do construction projects so I get around. I’ve put on 400 miles since Saturday and I have yet to see a hussein yard sign. Last time they were everywhere. There is no enthusiasm at all for O-blame-o this time.
I think it will be closer than they think.

Minnesota is supposed to be safe for The One. If it s a 5 point race there, then that means Romney is probably leading in Wisconsin and Iowa. Romney almost certainly won’t win Minnesota, but as an indicator it doesn’t bode well for His Highness.

MN was only one of six states to go for Carter in 1980 and the only state to go for Mondale in 1984.

Even CA went for Reagan in both of those elections.

MN is the most left-wing state in the nation. No big surprise they’re voting for Obama.

Romney almost certainly won’t win Minnesota

The University of Colorado economic modelers who have picked every presidential winner since 1980 predict Romney will win Minnesota this time. But they make it very close to a toss up. They not only pick the overall winner accurately but their state-by-state picks are remarkably accurate as well.

Does anyone know why MN is so liberal? It just doesn’t seem right in that part of the country.

It matters because, if MN is -5 for 0bama compared to ‘08, theoretically, it shows a problem in other states. Many of which were won by much less than 5 pct. pts.

This poll isn’t making them panic, but it is going to give them major heartburn. Obama is almost out of money. If he has to spend anything in Minnesota, that’s money he can’t spend in Ohio, Wisconsin, Iowa, or Virginia.

This is about money and perception at this stage of the race. And the money is in Romney’s pocket and the perception is that he is ahead of Obama. Polls showing a shift in State that Obama has been leading all along is a major source of discomfort for his people.

It is baffling. Everything revolves around Mpls. And I went there a lot for work a few years ago and couldn’t get over all the Obama bumper stickers there at the time.
It is, although, the home of Mondale, Wellstone, ...

Long tradition of socialism imported from Scandinavia over 100 years ago.

This is part of the Duh! factor. If Obama is winning by only this margin in a state that he won by 10 points in 2008 and has gone Rep once (1972) since 1960, then it should sound alarm bells to the Dems. It is a reflection that translates nationally in terms of Obama's overall performance compared to 2008.

And it remains to be seen if Obama represents a drag on Dems further down the ticket in MN and nationally.

The fact that this has to be explained to some people is rather sad.

Completely wrong. My Scandinavian ancestors came here way back when and we are anything but liberal. The more accurate reason is all the fags, ragheads, “oppressed people” and other imports that have congregated in the Minneapolis St Paul metro areas and derive their freebies from the government.

Hardly.

Vermont will give Obama 62-65% of the vote on November 6 — probably a higher percentage than any other state.

VT makes MN look downright conservative!

LOL. As the kenyan would say, you’re wrong. All those “oppressed” people you speak of were imported to MN by liberals because MN was too white. The MN DFL has it’s roots in Scandinavian and German socialism. That predates all the MN rump rangers and turd world imports by many generations. Being from MN you should know this is nothing new.
