The Salt Lake Tribune is receiving national media attention for its endorsement of the reelection of President Barack Obama. News organizations including CNN, the Washington Post and POLITICO all seem shocked that the state's leading newspaper is endorsing the incumbent, not the "favorite son."

By 2016 I'd wager even money that half of those newspapers on that list are all "online".
Print newspapers are dead. They just don't realize it yet.

Maybe the Chicago gang made them an offer they couldn’t refuse. If the commie ‘RATS fail in November, it’s going to set global communism back 50 years.

Newspapers are nothing more then large conglomerations posing as "home town" news. The Salt Lake Tribune is owned by
MediaNews Group which is owned, for the most part, by a hedge fund. I had to laugh at this statement:
...some former employees say that the newspapers are focused on making a profit to the detriment of good journalism.
That shows someone where journalism is today.

It was made for that purpose way back in the 1870s as a direct opposition to the Mormon community.Now THAT was gutsy; considering the HISTORY that MORMONism had with the press!

Utah is a deep Red State. Romney wins it with 75% of the vote. Utah is a deep MORMONState. Romney wins it with 67% of the voter base claiming to be MORMON.

The first handful of respondents seem to be awash in moonbat ideology and bumper-sticker slogan mentality. Choose The Right!
If You Could Hie to Kolob
#284 William W. Phelps
1. If you could hie to Kolob In the twinkling of an eye,
And then continue onward With that same speed to fly,
Do you think that you could ever, Through all eternity,
Find out the generation Where Gods began to be?
2. Or see the grand beginning, Where space did not extend?
Or view the last creation, Where Gods and matter end?
Me thinks the Spirit whispers, No man has found pure space,
Nor seen the outside curtains, Where nothing has a place.
3. The works of God continue, And worlds and lives abound;
Improvement and progression Have one eternal round.
There is no end to matter; There is no end to space;
There is no end to spirit; There is no end to race.
4. There is no end to virtue; There is no end to might;
There is no end to wisdom; There is no end to light.
There is no end to union; There is no end to youth;
There is no end to priesthood; There is no end to truth.
5. There is no end to glory; There is no end to love;
There is no end to being; There is no death above.
There is no end to glory; There is no end to love;
There is no end to being; There is no death above.

Probably for traditional means. I don't think these endorsements establish much in the way of changing or informing the minds of readers in the age of 24/7 TV news. Local political endorsements; however, can offer a different challenge.

I am SHOCKED: that a piece of garbage like that has surived this long.

It doesn’t surprise me. Salt Lake City metro is the most non-Mormon, non-conservative bastion of libs for hundreds of miles. There’s a huge gay community in Salt Lake, which serves as an in-you-face front against the LDS Church.
Remember Mayor Rocky Anderson?
Need I say more?

I been through Salt Lake City a few times, but never explored much—so thanks for the clarification. I checked demographics of the region and it just didn’t add up on the face of it.
