On Thursday, President Obama & Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney will give keynote speeches at the 67th Annual Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner in New York City. The fundraiser, held at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, will offer a light-hearted evening for the candidates.
Past speakers at the dinner include politicians, journalists, and presidential candidates including former Pres. George H. W. Bush & Michael Dukakis in 1988; Al Gore & Jack Kemp in 1996; and Pres. Obama and then-Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain in 2008.
Founded in 1946 by Francis Cardinal Spellman, the Foundation honors the memory of Alfred E. Smith who died in in 1944. Smith was a four-time governor of the state of New York and former presidential candidate.
Ooops. Both men led with Gov. Cuomo jokes.
Romney is hilarious!
He has Ann, Obama has Bill Clinton. As a way to appease the Church the ObamaCare mandates are now in Latin. The FEC told him when Joe Biden speaks there will now be a recording that says, "I'm Mitt Romney and I approved this message." In the spirit of Sesame Street, the president's appearance is sponsored by the letter "O" and the number "16 trillion." These were among the remarks Romney had.
*SIGH*
WHAT A LET DOWN.
Great. Romney needs a sharp tongue. He’s doing great. I’ll turn off when the journalists start ripping his standup to shreds.
I turned it off. I can’t possibly laugh at any jokes this guy makes. Now, if he’s saying something serious and STUPID, then I can laugh without a problem.
Obama is slurring.
The local preview Chanel didn’t list it.
Romney was Fantastic!
obama not so much
Obama’s jokes are falling flat
Obama is totally lame! You would think that he would have decent joke writers.
O has a forked silver tongue and a Clever speech writer.
Dear Leader starts out like a snarky punk with Clint Eastwood comments. Best yet he slaps his gf Tingles. How does it feel to be an abused spouse Chrissie?
OB never much on delivery, but any prez always has some good writers around or at least can buy some for the event. He wasn’t too bad at the correspondence dinner. Good material.
Romney A OB C+ so far.
He is oK but not that funny.
Not getting the enthusiasm Romney got.
Dear Leader starts out like a snarky punk with Clint Eastwood comments. Best yet he slaps his gf Tingles. How does it feel to be an abused spouse Chrissie?
Obama up, getting some laughs and polite applause.
Claims he did better in his second debate because of the rest he got in the first debate.
States four years ago he gave Chris Matthews a tingle up his let, but apologizes to his this time for giving him a stroke.
Joke about “The House that Ruth built” he didn’t really build that.
Falling flat?
They are such a let down from Romney.
Hollywood loves him yet he can’t get better material than this?
