I really wanted to know the answer. Why didn’t Romney put Obama on the spot and ask why he didn’t answer the question.

The debate was supposed to allow responses to comments.
Several times Crowley cut off the debate without allowing Romney to respond.
Obama took a question and answered it. Romney got to respond. Crowly asked Obama a follow-up. He responded. Then she refused to let Romney respond.
Romney would up with three minutes less talk-time, and Crowly became the third debate member telling Romney he was wrong.
