The lowest and most dishonest part of Crowley's disgraceful "moderation" was when she actually jumped into the debate to take Obama's side when the issue of Benghazi came up. To cover for his and his administration's lying for almost two weeks about the attack coming as the result of a spontaneous protest over a YouTube video, Obama attempted to use as cover the claim that he had called the attack a "terrorist attack" on that very first day during his Rose Garden statement.
Romney correctly disputed that.
Crowley, quite incorrectly, took Obama's side and the crowd exploded.

After the audience clapped when Candy Whorely lied to save Obama (from his lie), I wish Romney would have looked up at the audience, then looked squarely at Whorely and said: “Looks like all these (insert hand gesture for quotes) undecided voters didn’t get the no-applause memo.”, just to let the TV viewers know how biased the audience really was, and that we’re on to it.

I took it to be a planned signal when Obama said to Crowley, “I’m happy to have an extended discussion...” (or something to that effect) and Crowley immediately responded with, “I want to move you along” and went on to another question.
Despicable BS. Obama looked triumphant when Crowley joined in to attack Romney:
"Can you say that again... a little louder, Candy?"
It almost looked rehearsed to me...

My wife said...dang that’s a big woman. I told her that I have seen her on TV for at least 20 years and this is by far the best she has ever looked. They must have had a dozen sheep groomers working overtime to soften her up appearance this much. I mean look at how much better she looked today than usual.
Nobody will remember the debate. What they will remember is that Obama lied and the moderator tried to give him cover by calling Romney a liar and failed. By admitting later that Romney was right, she has effectively been forced to call Obama a liar.
Candy Crowley made the debate about herself. She made an ass of herself, which wasn’t hard because she is an ass and always has been.
Obama will get a dead cat bounce from the phony polls that claim he won the debate. In fact, the bounce will be over before the sun rises tomorrow. Tomorrow the story will be about how Candy Crowley is an Obama hack.
I agree with you. She actually did disservice to her master. The whole week people will talk about this, and on the debate next week it might come up big time. Looking at her admission after the debate, I start to wonder if she realized that she was helping instead of damaging Romney. In any case, when even Anderson Cooper tweeted that she was wrong, she probably realized she has crossed the line.
I suspect this was the condition of Obama holding 3 debates. Obama knows his case and grasp upon reality, facts, & reasoning is weak to say the least and thus does not stand well to debate. Mitt probably had to do a lot to get him to attend even 1 debate much less 3.
Namely Obama probably named “moderators” he felt would be friendly to him as Crowley proved to a fraudulent extreme.

Without “safe” moderators there would be no debates, and the Dems control the media (for the time being). Don’t expect to see Lehrer moderate again - he’s done.
Remember that BJ Clinton was elected, and re-elected, with the help of a media that ensures he would never be asked unscripted questions. Later in his presidency it became clear as o why that could never be permitted - they could never have someone ask him if he went on to smoke the cigar, etc.
And it did save zerO because Romney was probably thrown off his entire Libya attack and zerO got to be the sarcastic asshole his worshipers love and adore and even applauded with his “Say it louder” bullshit in which Crowley complied. That was really the turning point for the debate because up until then Obama was sputtering trying to explain the economy and his energy polices.
