First caught wind of this remarkable little side-bar story from Jim Hoft. Barack Obama has been quite busy trying to gin up support in all sectors, including claims this his “all of the above energy policies” were both helping and winning the support of energy workers, including coal miners. Even worse, the Left has been foisting some claims that Mitt Romney’s campaign has been “forcing” coal miners to attend his rallies. Out in the battleground state of Ohio, some of the aforementioned miners got together with the press to ask the President to cut out the “absolute lies.”
Coal miners at the American Energy Corp. Century Mine said they want President Barack Obama to stop what they term the war on coal – and to stop spreading mistruths about them.
Miners gathered Friday afternoon to express their opposition to Obamas energy and environmental policies, which they believe threaten their jobs. Miner Mitch Miracle read aloud a letter the miners mailed to Obama that outlines some of their concerns.
Here’s some of the text of the letter provided to local reporters.
There are numerous false statements and absolute lies concerning our participation in this event, mostly started by a local shock jock radio host, the miners letter to Obama states. Why would you (Obama) lie about the 500 working miners who have signed this letter? We, the employees of the Century Mine would request you immediately stop these false ads.
This summer, Murray Energy Corp., parent company of the Beallsville mine, cut or relocated 56 workers with the closure of the Red Bird West mine near Brilliant. Murray also cut 29 mining jobs from The Ohio Valley Coal Co.s Powhatan No. 6 Mine. All of this was done, Robert Murray said, because of Obamas war on coal.
Murray then hosted the August Romney campaign stop in Beallsville, during which many miners appeared behind Romney as the former Massachusetts governor spoke about the need to protect coal mining jobs. In response to the assertion some have made about the miners being forced to appear with Romney, the miners made the following points on Friday:
As for anyone who claims the miners were forced to attend, those on-site Friday said these assertions probably came from discharged or disgruntled former employees.
Well, that’s rather blunt and to the point, eh? But when it comes to the attitudes and experiences of hard working coal miners, who are you going to believe? The President or a bunch of sweaty, smelly guys in hard hats?
I have been doing a lot of family history research in eastern Ohio. I see lots (and I do mean lots) of signs that state “Stop the war on coal. Fire Obama!” All over eastern Ohio.
I am not at all sure that Ohio is a “toss-up” state. This is a huge issue in this part of the country.
The government is establishing 17 new “solar energy zones” on 285,000 acres in six states: California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Colorado and New Mexico. More than half of the land — 153,627 acres — is in Southern California….This is insane. Also note the huge long-term ecohazard and clean up costs of solar farms, and this aspect is presented here. An excerpt:
Billions and billions [of $] and we’ve ended up with pretty much nothing. Actually, that’s not quite correct. What we will have, within a couple of decades, is a clean up job that’ll make Chernobyl look like a training day. As the vast arrays of panels age, they’ll crack and contaminate the topsoil with poisonous chemical particles. Take a careful look at the photo below [see thepointmen link above], because that’s what we’ll have to pay to detoxify, and make no mistake, we’ll be the ones paying, despite a few of the companies installing these panels having given undertakings to dispose of the panels at the end of their service life. The hard-nosed investor in me reckons they’ll be safely bankrupt by the time any such expensive undertakings have to be honored.
Having just spent a few days in West Virginia, I can tell you that the coal industry is fighting back.
The people can see that the emperor has no clothes.

In a truly Orwellian sense the Obama campaign is like a Ministry of Mistruth. Starting with energy, despite O’s desire to see energy prices skyrocket, and his Secretary of (Anti-) Energy Stephen Chu’s stated goal of $10 a gallon gas, their opposition to the XL Pipeline, to fracking, to coal, to offshore drilling or drilling in Alaska, to new federal drilling permits anywhere, despite this O maintains that they have an “all of the above” energy policy when it’s actually “none of the above” except for fanciful green energy that is little more than a costly pointless boondoggle that is feathering the nest of O’s campaign cronies!
On coal, of course it’s Orwellian, to run ads saying Romney is against coal and O is in favor of coal, when O explicitly said that his policies will bankrupt coal, and coal plants are now shutting down en masse thanks to O. Fortunately, thanks to these coal miners, O’s lying ads are not going to go unchallenged.

This country has a 300 year supply of coal and yet Rats want to shut the industry down.I guess the tree worshipers give more than the coal companies.
I hope this video will be a commercial like Swiftboaters was, otherwise, it’s just the already informed like us who will see it.
It would be beneficial to tie in the brain dead coal industry in Pennsylvania who somehow still favors 0bummer.
LS: do you have any idea what the ‘08 results were in eastern Ohio counties? This post#3 indicates that -bama has a huge pushback in that area.

It appears that the counties on the eastern/SE border of OH are near 50-50, in general, in ‘08.
Now to see what they look like as far as early returns are going...

I find it hard to believe that voters in the coal regions of Pennsylvania don’t feel exactly the same as they do in Ohio.
