According to some sources, this looks like it could have been a secret CIA operation to retrieve rogue weapons that ended up in the hands of Al Qaeda in Libya.
So, either the Administration is not wanting to blow up a secret operation, or they’re just trying to cover for their own malfeasance in giving arms to terrorists.

To your first point-— I have heard that. I (and many other Freepers) think there is some “there” there-—and at least circumstantial evidence. Unfortunately, excellent hearing didn’t touch this.
To your second point-— Administration is not wanting to blow up a secret operation
Adm can’t make this work, IMO. There may well have been a secret op, but their handling of it negates that motive.
It was handled politically -— not to protect sources, but to deceive in order to promote Libya “success.”
Chris Plante is also fond of saying, “Libya has NO government. We left in such a hurry, we didn’t stick around to help them develop a government.”
If we believe the “weapons” story, we were 1) arming Al Qaeda; 2) denying security to those whose lives were in immediate jeopardy and requesting it; 3) inflaming the ME with all those apologetic, official, knowingly FALSE pronouncements about the YouTube trailer -— from Obama, Clinton, Rice, Carney.

One other point--- Issa has emphasized in hearing and on Greta last night that he thinks it is highly significant that Adm reduced security and yet raised the hazard pay for Libya.
This supports the view that they wanted to save appearances that Libya and CIC Obama are successes
Stevens DID know too much. But he was on board---unless he got PO'd that he wasn't being protected and threatened them in some way we are not aware of.
Rightwingintelligentsia's point about the weapons is a huge unanswered question. The gist of it is that we armed AlQaeda/MB? for the Libya revolution and were in the process of trying to get them back; i.e., put the genie back in the bottle.
I think I’ve figured out the code: Whenever Obama or one of his spokes-flaks says “Let’s be clear,” whatever is coming next is the most outrageous BS imaginable.

That’s the problem. :) Ryan is smarter, better, and right; but he’s not a slimeball douchebag like Slow Joe. Honestly - I give anyone props who gets on stage with that slimeball and doesn’t punch him in the face.
