Darn. He seemed like one of the good guys post NFL.

Definitely NOT the Paper Lion. Fair winds and Following Seas, Alex. Thanks for the memories.

At age 77 he lasted a whole lot longer than his peers . . .

Fond Michigan boyhood memories of the “Fearsome Foursome” spinning through my brain.
Alex Karras, Roger Brown, Darris McChord, and Sam Williams. Now THAT was football, the Super-Sackers.
Thanksgiving has not been the same ever since they stopped the Packers-Lions T-Day tradition.

When I was a kid, my friend's Dad ran a Beer Distributorship in Glendale. His Dad was buddies with Merlin Olsen, so he hired him in the off season to work there.
Professional Football players didn't make the big bucks back in the 60’s.
My friend's Dad played College Football and he was a big guy just like Merlin. They used to play catch using Beer Kegs. Can't remember if those Kegs were empty or full.

Movies:
“Victor Victoria”
“Blazing Saddles” Mongo and the bean-eating scene. Classic!
One with Susan Clark.
A good guy. Hope he recovers or finds a blessed sleep.

Close, never heard of Roger Brown. It was Rosie Grier rounding out the four.

I believe that Detroit Lions defense was called the “Silver Rush.”

Close, never heard of Roger Brown. It was Rosie Grier rounding out the four. Grier replaced Brown after he retired. Brown and Grier were both members of the Fearsome Foursome and were both 300+ lbs.
BTW....Jones lives in my neighborhood ......see him at shopping centers ..etc on occasion. ... walks with a cane.

Right you are. Rosey Grier. Roger Brown and Coy Bacon came along later
