Mitt Romney in a major speech Monday will call for a change of course in U.S. foreign policy -- saying the recent, deadly attack on the U.S. Consulate in Libya is part of a profound upheaval and that hope is not a strategy.
The speech will mark one of Romneys final opportunities before Election Day to show his potential as a world leader -- amid political turmoil in the Middle East.
The attacks on America last month should not be seen as random acts. They are expressions of a larger struggle that is playing out across the broader Middle East -- a region that is now in the midst of the most profound upheaval in a century, Romney will say, according to speech excerpts provided by the Republican presidential nominees campaign.
I know the president hopes for a safer, freer, and a more prosperous Middle East allied with the United States. I share this hope, Romney continues. But hope is not a strategy. We cannot support our friends and defeat our enemies in the Middle East when our words are not backed up by deeds.
Romney is set to speak at Virginia Military Institute at 11:20 a.m. ET.

There were telepromters on the stage and he MAY have used them. But it was hard to tell because he made eye contact WITH the audience.
I count six times Mitt mentioned “fail.”
See link in post # 137...you can hear it there.
He used the word FAIL as a lead into each area of the ME that BO has or could have had an influence. Iran, Iraq, Syria, Egypt, Isreal....ANd then in his conclusion. Very well done...well written.
"Romney is truly a wonderful man. I heard him once in a small setting two years ago and I was very impressed. Answered questions about foreign policy for two hours without a note. Afterwards I told him he was the closest thing to Ronald Reagan I had ever heard. He liked that."
Answered foreign policy questions for two hours without notes & my cousin (considered an expert) was very impressed? Barky Obummer is in big, big trouble. ☺
Can't wait for the VP debate Thursday..may delve back into your website for a dinner recipe..something to go with a really good Chianti Classico I plan on enjoying during the debate..
BTW..the dessert was excellent..church ladies loved it..thanks again..
I was amazed to hear how long it took for Romney to receive intelligence briefings. It seems to me they started right after the nomination at the conventions.
I just had an awful recall of Obama and his Office of the President-Elect podium! If that wasn’t an indicator of the emptiness ahead! “A numb skull full of mush”...
[ Was Romney using a teleprompter or not? Conflicting info on this thread... ]
Even if he actually did use a teleprompter, there is a good chance he wrote it himself anyways.
I appreciate that - but along with no cable, I also don’t have enough bandwidth to listen on line. I’ll get to hear or see it within the next 24 hours.
It looked like he was using teleprompters to me though I didn’t see them.
His head was moving back and forth. But it was still a good speech.
What else is the “post American” author going to say. He ought to be working for al jazeera.
Obama is already preparing his reefer “Mary Jane” puff, or....maybe something quite stronger for the foreign policy debate with Mitt!!! Count on Obama being stoned out of his mind. I know I would would to be stoned if i were directly responsible for the murder of four fine American public servants because of my personal neglect and in action!!! Innocent American Blood drips from the hands of Barack Hussein “Muslim Brotherhood Adoree” Obama and SOS, Hillary Clinton. period!!! Obama must go!!! ABO!!!
Yes, it was a good speech.
I agree - it doesn't matter if he used a teleprompter... sounds like he delivered a GREAT speech. Can't wait to see/hear the entire thing...
SE Mom: Thanks for the link to Romney's speech!
Thanks, Mom! :)
Team Obama is on ramping up their full-front “liar” attack. It’s all they’ve got.
I think this Mitt Romney actually wants to be our president!
@@@@@@
I do, too, and for the reason that he believes that he can help our country. Otherwise, he could do many things while enjoying a luxurious retirement with his lovely grandchildren.
Missed the live speech but thanks, all, for your commentary—this election is SO exciting! :)
Right Change has already posted “hope is not a strat....on Facebook....Expect to see others use it too!
Romeny Needs to come to the next debate with a Pee Wee Democrat button: “.....YOU ARE, SO WHAT AM I” button.
