Mitt Romney in a major speech Monday will call for a change of course in U.S. foreign policy -- saying the recent, deadly attack on the U.S. Consulate in Libya is part of a profound upheaval and that hope is not a strategy.
The speech will mark one of Romneys final opportunities before Election Day to show his potential as a world leader -- amid political turmoil in the Middle East.
The attacks on America last month should not be seen as random acts. They are expressions of a larger struggle that is playing out across the broader Middle East -- a region that is now in the midst of the most profound upheaval in a century, Romney will say, according to speech excerpts provided by the Republican presidential nominees campaign.
I know the president hopes for a safer, freer, and a more prosperous Middle East allied with the United States. I share this hope, Romney continues. But hope is not a strategy. We cannot support our friends and defeat our enemies in the Middle East when our words are not backed up by deeds.
Romney is set to speak at Virginia Military Institute at 11:20 a.m. ET.

“First two callers to C-Span.
Negative on the speech. MSM just cant help but to provide cover for O......”
YEAP BUT THEN the Moderator jumped in on the last call and said something to the effect of “Is it fair to say Obama did not have any foreign experience either”.....and the caller agreed......... LOL
Am also.
Yes, they've had a free ride for so long and spent too much on socialism - don't see how they're going to want to cough up for their own defense. But still, I agree with the idea.
Meanwhile, On CNN, Zakaria slammed it as “Almost the same as Obama’s”, while the other talking head said “Etch-A-Sketch”....
HOW DO THESE PEOPLE GET BY WITH THIS CRAP?
Did he really? Whoa...
I immediately turn off Cspan because I’m trying to stay positive...
This was a superb speech in exactly the right place at exactly the right time. Only thing I am skeptical of...and it’s my nature...is the so-called two state solution with falsestinians.

Agree. Good to hear that.
Thanks for posting this.
He's getting intelligence briefings now also so nobody can accuse him of speaking out of school. The Democrats won't dare bring this up because they know that Obama has been SKIPPING many of his intelligence briefings.
What a contrast from four years ago. Did John McCain give any foreign policy speeches like this when he was running?
Thanks! I’ll see if I can look that up!

I totally understand and agree...........I just have to keep in mind, look who the other choice is
Grrr... missed Romney's speech. Rush is glowing over how great it was.
Does anyone have a link to the entire speech?
Thanks so much...
I don't have cable so couldn't watch the speech, but 2 of those cadets are young men from my church and I know their mom recorded it - so I'm sure I'll get to see it.
C-Span & Fox News Network (FNC) carried the entire speech!!! Romney was spot on and excellent. This guy Romney could take over as an effective POTUS tomorrow morning. Obama. the American traitor and failed POTUS must go!!!
Thanks! I didn't hear the speech but will watch it later on C-Span.
My view is that while Assad may be a devil, he is the devil we know. As bad as he may be, he does try to take some care of women, ethnic and religious minorities. Yes, he is receiving support from the Iranians but given the loss of Egypt as an American friend, might there be an opportunity here to take a pragmatic approach of putting the past in the past and winning Assad over from the Iranians and Russians? Carter for all his flaws did it with Sadat and that worked out fairly well until hussein came along.

Haven’t found video yet...
Rush is correct. It was dignified, quietly superior and full of smarts. I guess the thing I always get when I listen to him is- he loves America.
Looking for a link to Romney's speech... darn, I missed it live!
LOL! Never mind...If you click on the link I posted ...the video is there too ;)
Going back to my duuuhhh...corner!
Romney is hitting his stride at the right time. Obama is going to collapse like a house of cards in the debate on foregin policy.
