Obama still more liked than Romney despite poor debate

Mitt Romney's strong debate performance did little to convince more voters he understands them or is a "good person" even though he has narrowed President Barack Obama's overall poll lead, according to a Reuters/Ipsos survey released on Saturday.

Just a month before the November 6 election, the Democratic president is ahead of his Republican challenger on character attributes that can win over undecided voters who have not been swayed on policy points.

The online survey of 1,770 registered voters and 1,492 likely voters was conducted from October 2-6.

The precision of the Reuters/Ipsos online polls is measured using a credibility interval. In this case, the poll has a credibility interval of plus or minus 2.7 percentage points for registered voters and 2.9 for likely voters.

I feel the same way. What’s likeable about someone who has done nothing but criticize everything American these past 4 years? Not to mention how cute he thinks he is - eye candy - gag!! His constant put downs of average American citizens. Good Lord, what is there to like?

Let’s wait for the exploding retail fuel cost to become a fixture in California and maybe other states like NY. Then let’s measure what voters think of 0bama and his green policies

People trust people they like and relate to. All things equal, the more likeable guy wins.

It is easy to determine...

Who would you rather spend the afternoon on a float trip with, sharing a case of beer?

I’d pick neither. If forced to choose, I’d pick the one that it would be most fun to push off in the rapids - accidentally of course ... and that decision is very close in this election.

Hey! You're talking about his base.

If Rooters had been around in 1788, their argument would have gone something like this.

George Washington: Abrasive, tall, looks down on the average person. His 6'2" frame can't help it. Son of a plantation owner. Married a rich widow. Sure, he might of helped win our independence, but what we have to do now is build bridges to the world.

Benedict Arnold: His working class Connecticut upbringings helps far more people identify with him. Only slightly above average height and never seen as aloof or looking down on others. His British sympathetic wife is a wonderful advisor and confidant who will help us build bridges to the most powerful country in the world and heal the wounds from that long war which Washington promoted.

P.S. It goes without saying that BO is a lot closer to Benedict Arnold than Mitt Romney is to GW.

I think everybody knows the “racist” label is now overused, but I suspect some Republicans say they like Obama less because they mind being called racist than that they don't want to give the Dems the satisfaction of alleging the people not voting for Obama are at all motivated by race.

The details are always the main thing about a poll....one get get any result he wants out of a poll by manipulating the question....also the Bradley effect takes place. When a pollster ask the reason you aren’t voting for someone most people won’t say because they don’t like him, they will say he’s alright as a man but I don’t like his policies....when the truth is they think he’s an idiot who’s driving the bus over a cliff!!!!

Remember the “Simon the Likeable” KAOS villain from the old “Get Smart” TV series in the 1960s?

I have a visceral dislike for everything Obama is and everything he stands for. He has made a mockery of our country and the office of the President of the United States of America. It is going to take a long time to get his stench out of the white house and the oval office. It was all I could do to watch the debate.

Al Sharpton is more likabale than Jesse Jackson, though they’re both racist demagogues.

Bill Clinton is more likable than Harry Reid, though they’re both liars.

Joe Biden is more likable than Nancy Pelosi, though they’re both complete idiots.

There’s nothing likable about Obama. The media has just commanded us to like him. So a certain amount of idiots go along with the idea that Obama is likable, the same way they go along with the idea that Cher is gorgeous and a great talent, when she’s really just fairly attractive with a decent singing voice, and a really annoying personality.
