Over the past day the game tape of the debate has been reviewed. While Mitt Romney still enjoys the afterglow of the debate, the lies and half truths he told are being dissected.
From tax policy to hiring teachers. From cracking down on Wall Street (and Sesame Street) to coverage for the uninsured. From Medicare to shipping jobs overseas the fact checkers have been very busy correcting the record and pointing out falsehoods.
Even Team Romney had to correct the candidate on health care immediately after the debate.
As I predicted earlier this week, Romney had an October Surprise planned for the President new policy ideas. But I had no idea that Romney would just lie about everything he had said over the past year and a half.
As the President said, Mitt Romneys bright new idea is: Never Mind!
But there was a moment in the debate that will be discussed in the days ahead that everyone missed until yesterday.
A review of the debate tape reveals that, apparently, Mitt Romney needed a cheat sheet to keep the lies straight.
The rules of the presidential debates are clear about not bringing outside notes and presidents and aspirants have followed the rule for decades.
Video of the first eleven seconds of the debate available on YouTube shows Mitt Romney reaching into his pocket at the moment he is out of view of those in front of him, he used the lectern as a shield, and removing what appears to be folded papers from his pocket.
We see this because the camera that was broadcasting was behind Romney. Those in the audience and the moderator may have been shielded from his sleight of hand, but not the viewers.
Romney then proceeds to unfold the item in front of him.

Liers.
Actually, Mussolini ended his time “up in a prominent position”.
I’ve been praying (along w/others) that he would be exposed!

Calvin and Hobbs. I think they were playing checkers.
The only way to “cheat” in a debate is to know what the hell you are talking about. Liberals are insane.
Obviously Romney’s nose was running as a result of COCAINE USE prior to the debate!!

COME ON PEOPLE! THIS IS THE FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT IN HISTORY!
WE OWE HIM A MULLIGAN! A DO OVER. HE HAS BEEN GETTING THE RACE CARD SO LONG THAT HE IS ENTITLED!

wow that hurt to type.
It hurt to read....
I think Romney was wearing a secret decoder ring that transmitted his platform ideas, plans and figures into his brain.
Lesson learned.
Telepromters for Barack, no. But I heard a rumor that he had a BlackBerry with his advisors providing talking points.
Why would he be looking down so much?
Anyone else hear that?
After watching the video several times it became clear to me that the white object Romney laid on the lectern was a folded white handkerchief. A folded sheet of paper would have been crisp and stiff while the object Romney placed bent limply like cloth; i.e., like that off a handkerchief. The only notes I saw Romney referring during the debate were those he made while 0bumble was speaking.
didn’t they pull this crap on Palin as well, something about notes written on her hand?
typical rat trash
But, but, Al Gore said the reason the Kenyan got his butt whooped was because of the altitude. Hilarious!
Liberal panic...love it!
They just can’t accept the fact, which is this:
Obama got whooped.
He got schooled.
He got crushed.
He got destroyed.
He got taken to the woodshed.
Kick ass indeed.
Romney is up 2 in Ras poll, I think the first time Romney has been ahead that much since Aug.
A good sign!
Sounds like the bs from the Moveon rats!
Somehow I ended up on a left wing mailing list of Move On.
This is an email re how the left wing progressives feel about the debate:
Dear MoveOn member,
That was infuriating.
During last night’s presidential debate, Mitt Romney smirked his way through dozens of mischaracterizations, distortions, and outright lies. The moderator, Jim Lehrer, never cut him off. And now the mainstream media is saying that Mitt won the debate.
We can’t let Romney “win” the debate on a boatload of lies.
He lied about his tax plan, his deficit plan, and Medicare. He lied about what “Obamacare” would do. He lied, baldly and convincingly, about Obama’s entire presidency.1
We need to move quickly to set the record straight. Our online team worked overnight preparing a media blitzincluding online ads targeted at swing-state voterscorrecting the worst lies in an easy-to-share format.
Chip in $5 to get the truth outcountering Mitt’s lies.
If we don’t fight back now with the truth, some of those lies will stick, and Romney could pull ahead.
Already, Romney and his Super PAC friends have spent millions on blatantly false ads attacking President Obama for gutting work requirements for welfare and cutting $700 million from Medicare.
Last night was more of the same.
And research shows that when lies get repeated enough times people will believe themno matter how outlandish they might seem. The only way to keep Romney honest is to make sure the facts get corrected on the spot.
We’re now in the moment when millions of undecided voters who don’t usually pay attention to politics start to focus.
This is it. This is what MoveOn’s massive online network is for. Let’s use it.
Please chip in $5.
Thanks for all you do.
