Democratic strategists are eyeing the forthcoming debate between Vice President Biden and Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) with a mix of hope and nervousness in the wake of President Obamas widely panned performance in his initial encounter with Mitt Romney Wednesday night.
On the plus side, some Democrats feel that a strong performance from Biden next Thursday could turn the page on the presidents near-debacle in Denver.
But they also worry that Bidens legendary capacity to state his views in an inartful fashion could backfire. More prosaically, there is the possibility that the vice-presidential clash will be an insignificant sideshow, which would mean that Obama might have to wait until the second presidential debate on Oct. 16 before righting his ship.
Across the Democratic ranks, the reverberations from the presidents poor showing were clearly still being felt Thursday.

Republican consultant Dan Judy said of the Biden-Ryan clash, it will be entertaining but I dont think it is likely to change voters minds.
For Judy, unlike the Democratic strategists, that would suit him just fine:
The president isnt going to really have a chance to get his footing back until that second debate with Gov. Romney. He has never really found himself in that position in any campaign he has run, Judy said. It is going to be fascinating to see if he has the resilience to deal with it.

It’s the Obama economic miracle! Unemployment has suddenly dropped to 7.8%! Yeah, right.
if Biden tries the “we’re turning a corner” thing using the unemployment numbers, I’d expect Ryan to smoke him by pointing out all the irregularities, the massaging and the fact that the upward revisions were 100% government jobs (private sector revisions were downward by 5000 jobs)
Oh dear lord, those poor, deluded darlings!
The only thing Joe Biden has going for him in this debate is that he has lowered peoples' expectations to the lowest point possible.
If Joe gets too overwhelmed, he can always entertain the audience with a song and dance.

When Biden debated Palin almost every word out of his mouth was a lie and nobody in the MSM reported it.
HAHA that’s like pinning your football team’s hopes to win the Superbowl on a high school quarterback.
I sure hope Ryan asks Joe the jobs question
I think it goes exactly as you predict. Biden is all mouth and no substance. Most people get that nowadays.
Paul Ryan spoke to this, and--encouragingly--reminded his audience that Biden tends to NOT make gaffes in any kind of serious setting--like debates--and did deliver a very good speech (for a liberal) at the convention.
IOW, let's expect the best but prepare for the worst--in this case the BEST from Biden!
To quote that great philosopher, Mater, "I don't care who you are, that's funny right there."
B.S. Biden like Obama had been shielded by the media and made to look smart. Although that is hard to do for Biden the man is a bumbling moron with a gaffe a minute, "They're going to put y'all in chains" "We want to raise taxes a trillion dollars" "Stand up Chuck!"
And the list goes on and on and on. Once the media protection is gone Ryan is going to DEMOLISH this bumbling, fumbling idiot. Ryan has experience, he's a good debater, he took apart Obama in the phony healthcare summit. Get ready this is going to be an ass kicking of monumental proportions.
he’s going to bring up abortion “rights”
The Democratic mob turns to Fredo to save the family.
Don’f forget, Boy Scouts all over the country are selling popcorn. A fresh can of chocolate covered caramel corn is perfect for debate viewing.
This is as good a thread as any for today’s B.C. - http://www.gocomics.com/bc/2012/10/05
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH AND ROFLMAO.
Talk about desperation...there it is. They are hoping that VP DOOFUS will be able carry PREZ. DOOFUS over the goal?
That's like a child telling his mother to make them stop picking on me.
AGAIN hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Maybe the Dems should think about putting Biden at the top of the ticket! LOL!
Wow...nobama put him self under the bus and now Joe is the Man! Who woulda thunk???
