The town is intact and there were no witnesses....lol. (wink)
Texans.
You *pleased* us. :)
YeeeeeeHaaaaawwwww!
Look up “sparta remix” on youtube. I’m on a crappy old blackberry so I can’t get you a linl (easily, anyways). I want to Sparta Remix this video... Lol...
Speaking of phones, Buckeye Texan singlehandedl brought me back to the Droid world. I got rid of the phone I nicknamed “Skynet” (because it was clearly was self-aware) which was a Samsung Galaxy SII. But BET’s phone, with the slideout keyboard, was reasonable.
Now that damned car we rented, with it’s evil phone button and devious emergency-flasher button, that was utter disaster in electronic form.
You’re welcome, LV! Wish you could have been there and that you’ll think about it next year....wherever it might be! :)
Rut roh.....lol.
It was great to meet you NYT and mylife! You guys just crack me up with your witty and wicked senses of humor! It was such a delight to sit on you and mylife’s porch telling stories in the evenings. I wish you both lived next door and we could have a few beers and tell stories every night! I haven’t laughed so hard in years.....lol!!
Great pics roomie! It was so great to meet you finally and I could not have asked for a better roommate for this trip. You are so sweet and such a trooper sleeping on that Chinese torture rack of a bed, enduring freezing temperatures and no wifi.....lol.
I really enjoyed getting to know you and I have already “forgotten” the springs and sagging from the mattress! LOL! It
was all good! (especially after I modified it! :) )
It was a totally wonderful weekend and I sure hope you’ll get
to come next year! FReepers rock out loud!
I'm jealous.
It was so great to meet you and your sweet hubby! Thank you so much for the wonderful soap that you made. It smells so fresh and feels so good. Now we know where you get your beautiful skin!! The left overs were left in my car after we cleaned up the clubhouse sat. night and I will make sure that laurenmarlowe gets some when we meet for lunch and/ or margaritas soon!
Laurenmarlowe thank you so much for the great breakfast at NYTexan’s house before we left. I am so sad that you could not make it , but you call me soon so we can get together and have lunch or something. Some of us are thinking of riding to mylife’s lease for some shooting fun sometime soon and you should ride along with us!! I look forward to getting to know you better and having some good ole FReeper fun.
You’re right! Laurenmarlowe gets mad props for job(s) well done!
It was great meeting you and Brian!! And thanks so much for the soap. I think we have a bag with about twenty bars. Let’s see. Twenty bars at twenty showers each equals four hundred showers divided by approx fifty weeks per year (not counting vacations), that makes it a supply that should last at least eight years of Saturdays give or take any back sliding or or double dipping. Woo hoo!! Great shooting with y’all!!
For those of us that arrived Thursday night, we spent the afternoon relaxing from the long road trip by catching up and getting acquainted. Everyone eventually headed over to the cottage club house to enjoy NYTexans wonderful margaritas and patiently waited to eat TheMoms Kick Ass Enchildas.
Friday was a blur we never did make it to see the Lexington or Science on a Sphere. Around midday the cat herd headed over to TheMoms moms house for a short visit and were thrilled at all the hummingbirds that were hanging around the deck. I believe the count got up to 14. We then took a short ferry ride over Port Aransas for a horrible lunch (if you ever visit Port Aransas do not eat at the Pelican Landing Resturant ~ the food was not good & it is way over priced). Then we headed out to the beach so that Laz could put his feet in the water. After arriving back at the cottages it was more R&R time, waiting until it was time to head for dinner. We arrived at Captain Bennys to find regular people sitting the area that had been reserved for our group. Thanks to the good cop/bad cop routine by Laz and humblegunner those folks were moved to another area and all was right with the world. No one was disappointed with their meal ~ the food was fabulous. After dinner it was back to the cottages for some good ole porch time.
Saturday morning found a few of us scrambling to make it to breakfast by 8:00 a.m. The service and the food at Alice Fayes was wonderful and quick. Everyone arrived at the range by 10:30, and the shooting began. One of the things I love about these shoots is that nobody is stingy about sharing their guns. And there were so many different types to choose from. After a decent BBQ lunch almost everyone was spent (the temperature was a little bit on the warm side), just a few people did some more shooting. It was agreed that we would all meet back at the cottage club house at 6:00 for appetizers & gumbo. penelopesire made delicious guacamole, NYTexan made really good queso, BaconMan brought his cant get enough of this pig candy. BuckeyeTexan had a craving for pizza, she ordered & picked up eight large ones. Humblegunner suggested we make gumbo & gumbo we had. All together there was way too much food, but not a lot of it was left over. After shutting down the club house there was more good ole porch time.
Sunday morning brought in a cold front with the temps in the low 60s. Everyone slowly packed up and headed back home.
All in all it was another great shoot for the record books. I am considering having the next shoot in early June so that those with kids in school & sports will have the opportunity to join us.
For me it was great to see old friends who I dont get to see enough, and to meet some new ones who I look forward to seeing again.
On another personal note ~ I lost five pounds during this long weekend. If we do this every other weekend Ill be down to my fighting weight by Valentines day.
Pictures to follow.
Congrats to all that were able to participate this year. I’d like to make it back there one of these years. Perhaps 2013 will be the year. Kudos to you folks. I was there in spirit.
Dang it! The preview showed those pictures & text looking “normal”.
Your HTML Kung-fu is weak, Grasshopper.
I’m blaming it on the preview thingie.
