Coup détats come in a variety of forms.
Some are violent with arrogant colonels pointing forty-fives at the temples of their predecessors and blowing their brains out; others are stealthy with the citizens awakening on an ordinary morning to find their whole world has changed yet not a drop of blood has been shed.
The latter is what has happened in America.
We are the victims of a media coup détat and are currently living under it.
You will see that clearly in evidence on Wednesday night when the debates commence, each one moderated by a member of the liberal media nomenklatura. It is under the guidance of this liberalism, under their own version of sharia, if you will, that the debates will be conducted and Mitt Romney judged.

This class, more than any, determined that Barack Obama should be president and they consequently will work more assiduously than any to assure his reelection, because a failure in that would be a serious, perhaps fatal, attack on their hegemony.
The coup would be in danger of a counter-coup. That cant be allowed to happen. No facts, no events (Benghazi, Fast & Furious, endless unemployment, a healthcare fiasco) will get in the away or be allowed to be given serious credence.
**snip**
And the rest of us sat outside, tweeting, blogging, hoping Charles Krauthammer would say something smart on Fox News or Rush would get his revenge. But the narrative is set. The coup has taken hold. Its too late now or is it? We live in a Media State.

The détat started with Nixon.
Actually, Truman.
Correct.
Now, it's just totally out of control. Starts in kindegarten, reinforced in J schools (heck, even in engineering schools), the entire Media onslaught plus Hollywood.
They became really, really full of themselves after they claimed Nixon’s scalp. Can you imagine how they’re gonna be if they manage to drag Obozo across the finish line with his laughable joke of a record?
Thankfully we have conservative talkradio, Foxnews, and the internet to counterbalance.
For it to be true that the media is truly in control of our destiny would require evidence that they have actually retained their once-powerful ability to persuade-that their credibility remains intact, in this day and time.
At least in recent times, there’s some evidence that the liberal media has little sway on elections.
The establishment media, the liberal education establishment and Hollywood shilled for each and every Democrat candidate in municipal, state, congressional, and gubernatorial elections in the run-up to the 2010 mid-terms. Did they really have an effect? The bottom line is that the electorate simply ignored them, went to the polls and handed the media-endorsed candidates a monumental defeat. Across the land. Is this not evidence that the vaunted media has perhaps lost its mojo?
The Wisconsin recall is another case in point.
Media credibility has perhaps not been lost, but clearly has been damaged. More importantly, we can now see that the lib media has come to care not a whit about credibility going forward. They are betting the farm on their relevance, and may lose that bet.
For many Americans there’s a feeling that they were sold a bill of goods in Barack Obama. Evidence? See above. With them, I believe the media is getting more and more of the blame. Nightly reports are being viewed now with a skepticism never before seen. More evidence? The massive switch of independent voters from Obama to Romney.
Polling firms have the same overwhelming need for relevance at the expense of credibility that the lib media do. To remain relevant, they must do the bidding of the liberal media.
If we continue to pay more heed to the seeds the media plants, instead of the crops they reap, then we will be in a constant state of demoralization.
It is true we have talk radio, plus they don't always win.
It is also true if it weren't for the MSM journolists I don't think Bambi would even get 40% of the vote. That's a lot of power.
I would say closer to 30% though and that is being very positive about it.
Be not fooled by the superficial impression that the eunuchs run the harem.
It's not necessary for them to persuade us.
They can influence us more by what they choose not to report - no persuasion necessary.
Yep. When a President is ASKING companies to violate the law to enhance his re-election chances and the media doesn’t even think that is newsworthy they have become beneath contempt.
I think THAT is what Romney needs to do- ATTACK THE MEDIA WHORENALISTS posing as the debate moderators.
He can get a standing ovation out of the crowd, I bet
I often wonder if the Soviet-Era press was as gleefully willing as the current american media whorenalists
At least until they we TOLD what they had to write.
